Aha ... I will assume it is pronounced "skakulets" . I have never heard that word before, but then again, my people are from Egej and the grasshoppers were kicked out to let the former Turkish nationals in.

Would it have something to do with the word 'Skoka' as in jump?

On that point, we say 'Skoka' and 'Ripa' for basically the same thing, 'to jump', 'to spring', etc. Osiris, do you guys use both also?

Der Kurier: Illegal immigrants worry EU

Vienna, February 26 (MIA) - Illegal immigration from Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, which they receive Schengen visa liberalisation by end of Dec. 2009, is a concern for the EU, Vienna-based daily Der Kurier reads, implying that thousands of citizens of these countries pushed out the EU member states, where they work and live illegally.

As Kurier reads, Macedonian Foreign Ministry and border police pointed out that 170.000 Macedonians so far have left the country out of whom two-thirds have not return at all.

Experts in Brussels fear that they "vanished" somewhere in the EU.

Many young Macedonians with Albanian nationality left to Belgium, because they assume they would be given asylum easily there.

Many want to free from poverty and to work in rich countries in the EU even illegally, daily reads, reminding that the visa liberalisation foresees stay of 90 days in Schengen countries to bearers of biometric passports, and the work is strictly forbidden.

Actually ive read reports that hardly anybody has left since the Visa Liberalization, nobody is gone for more then a week thats it. The Tourist Companies complained that the figures they expected were much less.

As for the Albanians everybody knew that, they have been breaking Emigration laws for decades. With or without a visa they didnt intend go back anyways, but there is no way that 170,000 people have left the country, thats almost 20% of the population its a bullshit report.
