Despite the recent back and forth bitching between Zaev and Ahmeti, I think the chances are high that they will be asked by their western masters to put their differences aside and proceed on the path towards being a "European" (self-hating) country. I don't know if Zaev will give up his aspirations of being PM again though, the calls by Ahmeti for an ethnic Albanian PM have served their purpose, he got the votes he needed. Once they shake hands it will be back to the shovels so they can keep digging Macedonia's grave a little deeper.

There must have been a glitch in their system because the total votes is no longer 1.41 million now its about 900,000 which is a lot more realistic.

I have this sneaky suspicion that dui throws their lot in with their old friends dpmne. Levica may end up deciding it.

While the results were still up on that website, I did a quick calculation of the total votes and percentages per constituency, with a focus on 5 Macedonian parties specifically: Integra, Levica, Edinstvena Makedonija, Glas za Makedonija and Makedonska Obnovitelna Reformska Opcija (MORO). The first 4 made statements that were overtly patriotic. I don't know much about MORO, but given their logo, I have assumed that they too held similar positions. If these parties campaigned as a united Macedonian coalition, they would have produced the below approximate results, once the non-viable (less than 5%) parties are removed from the equation:

              Constituency 1 (north/centre): 10.4%
              Constituency 2 (north): 6.7%
              Constituency 3 (north/east): 7.2%
              Constituency 4 (south/east): 7.0%
Constituency 5 (south/west): 5.0% (**They were less than 5% with non-viable parties included)
              Constituency 6 (north/west): 1.7%

These figures are tentative. However, based on the above, they would have been guaranteed at least 5 seats, and possibly another additional seat with a bit of effort. That is at a minimum. And it would have ensured that each of them have a seat in the parliament. Had all 5 parties coalesced to agree on non-negotiable core principles (annulment of treacherous agreements with Greece, Bulgaria and ethnic Albanian politicians), develop a common approach towards economic prosperity, agree on who will take a seat in each constituency to ensure equal representation, pool their collective funds and resources, conduct in-depth demographic research, identify target areas and coordinate marketing, promote civic pride and responsibility to minorities, focus on the positivity of solutions rather than negativity of the problems, etc., I think there is a real chance they would have obtained even higher percentages, perhaps even to rival DUI as kingmaker. As it turns out, these people are Balkan politicians, so any kind of common action usually takes a distant second place to the interests of their own parties and political careers.

Questions for analysis: Did anything change in the electoral system since 2016? In 2016, the Albanian parties won 20 seats, whereas now that number is over 30, unless I'm mistaken. What changed? What was the percentage of the vote that the Albanian parties won?

Obviously, this means that the Macedonian parties lost a number of seats overall and currently the total stands at 92 seats (correct me if I'm wrong).

According to an Albanian analyst Mersel Biljali, the Albanian turnout was actually high, and not "low" as the preliminary results might indicate. He gave one example, Chegrane: he stated that more than 60% of residents actually live abroad nowadays and of those who remain the turnout was around 90%.

                Thoughts?

                Update -

The state electoral commission ("DIK") seems to be in disarray this morning. Irregularities and "unusual" results are being reported such as DUI winning in Vevchani:

                  Update - URL:

Who knows what the hell is going on over there. With only a couple of hours before the voting closed, there were reports of a low turnout in IE6. Then you have reports of ethnic Albanian parties winning in Macedonian-majority areas like Novo Selo and Vevcani! Although there were less people that voted overall compared to 2016, the ethnic Albanian parties have 21% of the vote for 28 seats. In 2016 they had about 18% of the vote for 20 seats. Not sure how that works. Looks like BESA voters decided to give their votes to DUI and AA/A rather than SDS, because DUI and AA/A received a higher share compared to 2016. Levica also made gains. Both DPNE and SDS lost ground. Many Macedonians may have stayed home instead of going to vote, as opposed to ethnic Albanians. That's if any of the statistics are to be believed. I have my doubts because it is hard to believe any "official" figures from there. A number of the parties (including Levica) have also complained.

It's difficult not to be disillusioned. If I lived there, I wouldn't be living there. The catalyst for revolution is palpable, but that's been the case for decades. Shame on the maggots who put themselves above the Macedonian people.

There are now numerous irregularities reported with the early unofficiak results, where DUI and AA are winning in electorates where there are no ethnic Albanians and VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM have 0 votes in what are usually their strongholds. Likewise there are electorates reporting 0 votes for Levica, whereas people who live in thos electorates, voted and are members of Levica, sre coming out to say they voted and the "0" figure is impossible.

Reports of ~80,000 votes being messed up and incorrectly attributed.

Actually, the Albanian parties now have 32 seats, if you include the 4 seats from BESA in SDSM's 46 seat coalition.

It looks like someone may have hacked something. I saw with my own eyes how the numbers of voters kept going up and then this morning they were 60% of what they were yesterday. The website crashing yet the live stream on the youtube channel was of the website. Something happened and no one is admitting it yet.

As far as why Albanians are getting more seats. Turnout doesn't affect them as much in certain regions because of intentionally skewed demographics. For example district 6 is the northwest region which is pretty much completely Albanian. That region gets 20 seats, the question is only which Albanian party gets a bigger share of those 20. They could have half the turnout of other districts and still get almost all of those 20 seats. Notice the Skopje region is divided in two region, one of them has the majority of Albanians in that region including Gostivar. They are guaranteed seats there too. Then there is Southwest district I believe 5, That is the one where turnout is more important.

The voting system there is idiotic. Also after the voting law changes in 2016 it is now impossible to elect diaspora candidates. As the law stands now the diaspora will never get enough votes to actually get a seat in parliament let alone 3.

Levica got shafted, who knows whats going on, there might even need to be new elections.

Well, if you put aside the apparent disagreement about an ethnic Albanian PM, one could probably include even more SDS coalition seats in the pro-Albanian camp. Do you have a further breakdown of the SDS coalition votes? Or are they only limited to SDS and BESA?
