MHRMI Defends the Existence of the Macedonian Nation – Yes, It’s the Year 2016
Georgea Polizos makes a perfect presentation of Greece’s illogical and incoherent, ever-changing, position on the Macedonia issue in her response to my op-ed in The Hill. But before I get to Ms. Polizos’ technical justification about why it’s acceptable to discriminate against someone based on their ethnic origin, she makes a fascinating point that illustrates the ridiculousness of the Macedonia-Greece name dispute. In reiterating Greece’s position that they want the Republic of Macedonia to use “a compound name for the country; a name that will distinguish it from both the Greek and Bulgarian part”, she inadvertently agreed with a position that MHRMI has stated since the beginning of the artificially created dispute. “Republic of” is the distinguishing factor because it indicates statehood. Name dispute solved. Crisis averted. The United Nations can now go about doing whatever it is that it’s supposed to be doing.
Her statement also acknowledges that Macedonia itself is divided. Polizos mentions the “Greek and Bulgarian part”, referring to the fact that Macedonia was partitioned – which is common knowledge and a fact accepted by all parties in the Macedonia dispute. This occurred in 1913 when Macedonia was divided among Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece, with a small part going to Albania in 1919. Each of these countries claim Macedonia, while at the same time, ironically, having tried or continuing to try to eradicate its existence. So, since 1988 – after Greece changed its well-known policy that denied the existence of Macedonia – Greece has been on an international rampage trying to claim that “Macedonia is Greek”. But Bulgaria claims that “Macedonia is Bulgarian”, Serbia claims that “Macedonia is Serbian” and Albania, while recognizing Macedonians’ ethnic origin and language, still claims some Macedonian territory. So why should we listen to Greece? Shouldn’t the false claims by the other Balkan neighbours be taken just as seriously? Or we can just adhere to common sense – that Macedonia is, and always has been – Macedonian.
If using “Republic of” isn’t good enough, why not refer to the partitioned regions of Macedonia by their other common names? Aegean Macedonia for the region in Greece and Pirin Macedonia for the region in Bulgaria. These terms are used by international human rights organizations, the Council of Europe, UN and OSCE. Acceptable for all.
Back to Ms. Polizos’ attempt at justifying the use of “FYROM”. This ignores two obvious facts – that Macedonia was forced to accept the ludicrous acronym, and that the use of “FYROM” is used to negate Macedonians’ ethnicity. Maybe we should start calling Greece anything except its actual name, and refer to their people as “Athenians” like they refer to Macedonians as “Skopjans”. Let’s get the UN to revoke Greece’s membership until it changes its flag and name. I propose “FOPOG” – Former Ottoman Province of Greece”. It would be quite a sight to see “Greece” walk in at the Olympic Opening Ceremonies behind the letter “F” like Macedonia is forced to.
Ms. Polizos says that I should go to the UN Security Council if I were offended. Already done, over two decades ago and continuing today. Polizos would be well-advised to research an issue before coming to the defence of Greece’s false, racist, and indefensible position. She mentions that Macedonia violated the Interim Accord, when, in fact, it is Greece that violated the accord, drew Western condemnation by denying Macedonia’s entry into NATO in 2008, and lost the subsequent International Court of Justice decision. Her entire account is a Greek myth, much like the claim that ancient myths were Greek, but I digress.
Polizos claims that Hillary Clinton’s call for Macedonia to change its name to appease Greece, the country that’s core foreign policy objective is to eradicate the existence of Macedonia, should not be taken as offensive to Macedonians. “Need I say more? I shouldn’t, but I do…” If Ms. Polizos had comprehended what I wrote, she would understand that even if she “inexplicably, does not understand why something is racist, if the affected ethnic group says it’s racist – it is.” However, she does understand, but chooses to ignore it, much like Greece’s nonsensical arguments in having manufactured this dispute as a method of continuing its oppression of any minority that chooses to stand up for its own human rights.
I quoted my original op-ed twice and had to reiterate the reasons why the existence of my nation’s people should be accepted. Sad. Especially in 2016. An apologist for the inexcusable Greek position never should have been given equal time in order to spin its official and transparent position aimed at negating Macedonia and Macedonians’ ethnic origin, language and identity.

Human Rights Watch Declines to Denounce Name Negotiations as Attack on Macedonia’s Most Basic of Rights

(Jan.21, 2017) - Despite requests by Macedonian Human Rights Movement International that Human Rights Watch (HRW) – as one of the world’s most influential human rights organizations – denounce the UN-sponsored name negotiations aimed at changing Macedonia’s name, HRW has declined. The reason given by Benjamin Ward, Deputy Director of HRW’s Europe and Central Asia Division , “I understand your concern about the name issue but while the name issue, which is an inter-state dispute, may be related to human rights consequences affecting Macedonian minorities in Greece (or elsewhere), it is not in our view in itself a human rights issue since states do not have human rights.”
The name of a country has a direct correlation to the name of its people. As MHRMI President, Bill Nicholov, explained, “The reason that Greece objects to Macedonia's name is to deny the existence of the Macedonian people as a whole, and the persecution and existence of the Macedonian minority in Greece. They do not want people to be known as Macedonians, so the name of the country directly affects the basic human rights – and name – of all Macedonian people. The point that states don't have human rights is not applicable, as we are talking about the people in this state, and beyond, whose ethnic identity is being denied.”
Human Rights Watch has had a tremendous impact in the past on Macedonian human rights issues, as its ground-breaking 1994 report “Denying Ethnic Identity – The Macedonians of Greece”, helped publicize the plight of the, still-unrecognized and persecuted, Macedonian minority in Greece. However, Macedonians were not mentioned in HRW’s 2017 World Report entry on Greece, and other ethnic minorities in Greece only received a minor reference. Macedonians in HRW’s Serbia/Kosovo report were also omitted, and Human Rights Watch did not report on Albania or Bulgaria.
By choosing not to denounce the name negotiations, Nicholov pointed out to Human Rights Watch that “Greece relies on positions like these in its pursuit of denying the existence of Macedonia and Macedonians.”
Greece has used arguments such as these as a basis for denying Macedonians, and other ethnic minorities, human rights. Greece's official policy is that the Macedonian minority in Greece "does not exist, but if they did..." that "human rights cannot be applied collectively, but only individually". Greece has the audacity to make the blatantly false claim that, therefore, everybody in Greece enjoys "equal human rights", a claim that has been debunked for decades by the United Nations, European Court of Human Rights, and any organization that undertakes human rights work in that country. Unfortunately, HRW's current position on the name issue, while inadvertent, falls into the category of using semantics as a foundation for denying Macedonians their human rights.
As Human Rights Watch did with its 1994 report, MHRMI hopes that HRW will reconsider, and take a prominent role in standing up for basic human rights, as is their mandate, and immediately denounce the name negotiations. We call on all international human rights organizations to do the same. We reiterate our call that the international community, the vast majority of which has recognized Macedonia using its proper name, take the next logical step and demand an end to the name negotiations. These steps would spell the end of the UN-sponsored attack on Macedonia and Macedonians’ self-determination, self-identification, and most basic of human rights.

Хјуман Рајтс Воч одбива да ги идентификува преговорите за името како напад врз најосновните права на Македонија
покрај барањата од Македонското меѓународно движење за човекови права до Хјуман Рајтс Воч, која важи за една од најголемите и највлијателни организации за човекови права во светот, да ги осуди од Обединетите Нации спонзорираните преговори за името со цел да се смени името на Македонија, оваа организација го одби тоа. Бенџамин Ворд, заменик директор на Дивизијата на ХРВ за Европа и Централна Азија како причина го наведе следново: „Ја разбирам вашата загриженост во врска со прашањето за името, но бидејќи тој проблем, кој што е всушност меѓудржавен спор, може да биде поврзан со последиците за човекови права кои што имаат влијание врз македонското малцинство во Грција (или на било кое друго место), не е според нас прашање поврзано со човекови права, бидејќи државите не се тие што имаат човекови права.“
Името на државата е во директна корелација со тоа како се нарекува народот. Претседателот на ММДЧП Бил Николов го објаснува тоа: „Причината што Грција се спротивставува на името на Македонија е заради негирање на постоењето на македонскиот народ во целина, како и прогонување на македонското малцинство во Грција. Тие не сакаат некој тие луѓе да ги знае како Македонци, па името на државата директно влијае врз основните човекови права (и име) на целиот македонски народ. Тоа што го наведувате дека државите немаат човекови права е неприфатливо, затоа што ние зборуваме за луѓето во оваа држава, на кои што дури и етничкиот идентитет не им е прифатен“.
Хјуман Рајтс Воч во минатото имаше големо влијание врз прашањата за македонските човекови права, а нивниот историски извештај од 1994 „Негирањето етнички идентитет – Македонците во Грција“ му помогна на се’ уште непризнатото и прогонувано македонско малцинство да си ги објават своите маки. Како и да е, Македонците воопшто не беа спомнати во годишниот извештај на ХРВ од 2017 година, во делот за Грција, а останатите етнички малцинства беа само летимично спомнати. Во делот од извештајот на ХРВ за Србија / Косово, Македонците исто така не беа спомнати, а за Албанија и Бугарија воопшто немаше извештај од Хјуман Рајтс Воч.
Поради одбивањето да се осудат преговорите за името, Бил Николов им го потенцираше на ХРВ следново: „За жал, Грција се потпира на овие позиции со намера да го негира постоењето на Македонија и Македонците.“
Како основа за негирање на Македонците и другите етнички малцинства и нивните човекови права, Грција употребува квази-аргументи. Според официјалната политика на Грција, македонското малцинство во Грција „не постои, но и кога би постоело...", според нив „човековите права не можат да се применуваат колективно, туку важат само за поединци". Грција се осмелува да тврди нешто што очигледно не е точно, а тоа е дека сите во Грција уживаат „еднакви човекови права“, нешто што е со децении дискредитирано од страна на Обединетите нации, Европскиот суд за човекови права и од други организации што ги анализирале човековите права во нивната земја. За жал, сегашната позиција на ХРВ за прашањето за името, несвесно, спаѓа во категоријата на користење на семантиката како основа за негирање на човековите права на Македонците.
Како што Хјуман Рајтс Воч направи во својот извештај од 1994, ММДЧП се надева дека ова движење ќе заземе значајна улога во одбрана на основните човекови права, согласно нивниот мандат, па веднаш ќе побара прекин на преговорите за името. ММДЧП ги повикува и другите организации за човекови права да го направат истото, а го повторува и повикот до меѓународната заедница, до оној поголем дел кои што ја признаа Македонија под нејзиното вистинско име, да го преземат логичниот чекор и да побараат крај на преговорите за името. Ваквите чекори би значеле и крај на, од Обединетите нации спонзорираниот напад врз Македонија и врз правата на Македонците за самоопределување, самоидентификација и најосновните човекови права.

US Congressman Calls for Partition of Macedonia – MHRMI Demands his Resignation and Reprimand, Calls for Support for Macedonia from President Trump

(Feb.8, 2017) - As if the first partition of Macedonia wasn’t enough, US Congressman Dana Rohrabacher decided to call for the further partition of Macedonia, saying “I am sorry to say but it is not a state. Kosovars and Albanians in Macedonia should become part of Kosovo. The other part of Macedonia should become part of Bulgaria, or whatever country they allege to belong.” The country that Macedonians belong to, Mr. Rohrabacher, is Macedonia - an age-old nation and deservedly, a state. As the US media likes to say lately, you’ve “double-downed” on your expression of ignorance. Further, you’ve continued previous US administrations’ enabling of Albanian irredentism and insurgency.
An apology is not enough. MHRMI demands not only your resignation, but your reprimand as well. The US has executed, quite literally, a disastrous and divisive foreign policy for seven decades. One of President Trump’s core campaign messages was to end US foreign interventionism. Rep. Christopher Smith took the positive step of initiating a Congressional investigation into the US Embassy in Macedonia’s interference, and stoking of civil unrest, in its attempt to overthrow the democratically-elected Macedonian government. This interference has caused a tremendous amount of instability and political unrest in the country.
Mr. Rohrabacher, Macedonia was partitioned in 1913 among Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and later, Albania. Each country began campaigns of violent assimilation or extermination in their attempt to eradicate the existence of Macedonians. Persecution of Macedonians continues today. Before and after Macedonia’s partition, large waves of Macedonian immigrants arrived at Ellis Island, escaping oppression and in search of freedom. A quick search of US immigration documents from the 1800s and 1900s shows these individuals’ nationality as – Macedonian. Simple "Made in the USA" proof that Macedonia wasn't an "idea" that was conceived "30 years ago" as you stated - to an Albanian TV station. Mr. Rohrabacher, your blatant disrespect of American values, and complete ignorance of basic principles of foreign policy, history, and simple civil and human rights disqualifies you from holding public office.
President Trump, MHRMI calls on you to fulfill your campaign pledge and end all meddling in Macedonia. Denounce the UN-sponsored and US-supported name negotiations, which is aimed at changing Macedonia’s historic name and which has subsequently wreaked havoc throughout the region. Proclaim that Macedonia’s name is – and always has been – Macedonia. The United States recognized Macedonia in 2004. 2017 is the, long overdue, year that the US must proclaim its unwavering support for the most basic of human rights – end the name negotiations now.

Американски конгресмен бара поделба на Македонија - ММДЧП бара негова оставка и го повика претседателот Трамп да даде поддршка за Македонија
Првата поделба на Македонија како да не беше доволна, па американскиот конгресмен Дана Рохрабакер одлучи да бара понатамошна поделба, изјавувајќи „Жалам што ова ќе го кажам, но тоа не е држава. Косовците и Албанците во Македонија треба да бидат дел од Косово. Другиот дел на Македонија треба да стане дел од Бугарија или било која друга земја за која што тие тврдат дека се поврзани.“ Државата на која што Македонците припаѓаат, г-дине Рохрабакер, е Македонија - вековна нација која што заслужила да биде држава. А вие ‘го пробивте дното’ покажувајќи тотално незнаење. И згора на се’, покажувате тенденција да ја продолжите политиката на претходните американски власти кои што го поддржуваа албанскиот иредентизам.
Извинување во овој случај не е доволно. ММДЧП не само што бара ваша оставка, туку и јавна осуда. Во изминатите седум децении, САД со својата надворешна политика, предизвика, буквално кажано, катастрофи. Една од клучните пораки во претседателската кампања на Трамп беше дека ќе стави крај на американскиот интервенционизам. Конгресменот Кристофер Смит направи еден позитивен чекор, иницирајќи истрага од страна на Конгресот за Амбсадата на САД и нејзиното мешање во внатрешните работи на Република Македонија, обидувајќи се да ја собори демократски избраната македонска влада. Ваквото мешање предизвика голема криза и политички безредија во државата.
Г-дине Рохрабакер, во 1913-тата година Македонија беше поделена меѓу Србија, Бугарија и Грција, а нешто подоцна и Албанија. Сите овие земји започнаа кампањи за насилна асимилација или истребување во нивните обиди за искоренување на постоењето на Македонците. Прогонството на Македонците продолжува и во денешно време. Пред, и по поделбата на Македонија, огромни бранови на македонски имигранти пристигнуваа на островот Елис, избегнувајќи на тој начин угнетување и барајќи слобода. Со еден кус поглед на зачуваните документи од 19-ти и 20-ти век за ‘Имиграција во Америка’ може да се види дека под графата за националност, кај многу доселеници е запишано МАКЕДОНСКА. Едноставно кажано, чист американски доказ дека Македонија не била „идеја“ измислена пред 30 години, како што вие наведовте на албанската телевизија. Г-дине Рохрабакер, вашето бесрамно непочитување на американските вредности, како и комплетното непознавање на основните принципи на надворешната политика, на историјата и на граѓанските и човекови права, тотално ве дисквалификуваат за вршење на било каква јавна функција.
Претседателе Трамп, ММДЧП бара од вас да го исполните вашето предизборно ветување и да ставите крај на секакво мешање во внатрешните работи на Македонија. Суспендирајте ги преговорите за името кои што се спонзорирани од Обединетите Нации и од САД, со кои што се бара менување на историското име на Република Македонија, кое што секако подоцна би предизвикало хаос во целиот регион. Објавете дека името на Македонија е, и секогаш било, Македонија. САД ја признаа Македонија во 2004-тата. А оваа 2017-та година е година кога САД мораат да дадат безрезервна поддршка за најосновните човекови права – веднаш да се стави крај на преговорите за името.

MHRMI Condemns the European Parliament's Resolution Claiming that Macedonians are “Bulgarian”

(Feb.17, 2017) - Is the European Parliament ignorant or anti-Macedonian? These are the only two options. In a blatant display of sheer lunacy, the European Parliament passed a resolution calling on Albania to protect the rights of its “Bulgarian” minority – in Macedonian-inhabited areas of Albania – and “recommends that the rights of people with Bulgarian ethnicity in the Prespa, Golo Brdo and Gora regions be enshrined in law and ensured in practice.” The sentiment would have been lovely, if they identified the proper ethnicity of the people.
The European Parliament, in its infinite wisdom, has just aided Bulgaria in its mission to eradicate the existence of a Macedonian ethnicity and in its misappropriation of everything Macedonian. Further, the European Union continues its policy of aiding Greece by playing along with the artificially-created name dispute and by referring to Macedonia as the “Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” at Greece’s behest.
To even have to respond to such an arrogant and racist statement – that claims one ethnic group on behalf of a country that seeks to destroy it – just proves the worthlessness of such European institutions. Let’s be clear – the population in these regions is Macedonian, a fact accepted by all, including the countless human rights reports by these very same European institutions, the European Court of Human Rights, European Commission Against Racism and Intolerance, United Nations, US State Department, and international human rights organizations. Better yet, the European Parliamentarians who voted in favour of this absurd resolution should go and visit Mala Prespa and Golo Brdo and see the Macedonian flags flying there and talk to the local population, which has already condemned this resolution.
The European Union and European Parliament continue to aid its member-states, Greece and Bulgaria, in their blatantly anti-Macedonian foreign policies. So which is it – ignorance or an anti-Macedonian policy? It appears to be the latter. And we’re waiting for an answer – in addition to the immediate retraction of this bizarre resolution.

ММДЧП ја осудува Резолуцијата на Европскиот парламент со која што се вели дека Македонците се „Бугари"
(17 февруари, 2017) - Дали Европскиот парламент е неинформиран, или е анти-македонски? Ова се двете единствени можни опции. При бесрамно прикажување на чиста лудост, Европскиот парламент усвои резолуција со која што од Албанија бараат да ги заштити правата на своето „бугарско“ малцинство и тоа во региони во кои што живее македонско население. Па уште и „препорачува, правата на лицата со бугарска националност во областите Преспа, Голо Брдо и Гора законски да се регулираат и спроведат во пракса.“ Чувствата би биле прекрасни, но само ако ја идентификувале вистинската етничка припадност на тоа население.
Европскиот парламент, со оваа ‘бескрајна мудрост’, само и' помагаат на Бугарија во нејзината мисија да го искоренат постоењето на македонското малцинство и на се' што е македонско. Истовремено, Европската Унија продолжува со својата политика да и' помага на Грција, играјќи заедно со неа во вештачки-создадениот спор за името и обраќајќи и' се на Македонија (по налог на Грција) со „Поранешна Југословенска Република Македонија“.
Дури и ако треба да се одговори на таков арогантен и расистички извештај – со кој што се тврди дека една етничка група, во име на држава која што се обидува да ја уништи – само ја докажува ирелевантноста на таквите европски институции. Да нема дилеми, населението во овие области е македонско и тоа е факт прифатен од сите, вклучувајќи ги и бројните извештаи за човекови права од страна на истите тие европски институции, Европскиот суд за човекови права, Европската комисија против расизам и нетолеранција, Обединетите нации, американскиот Стејт Департмент, како и меѓународните организации за човекови права. А уште подобро би било доколку европратениците кои што гласаа за оваа апсурдна резолуција, нека одат и нека ги посетат Мала Преспа и Голо Брдо, нека ги видат таму македонските развиорени знамиња и нека поразговараат со локалното население кое што веќе ја осуди оваа резолуција.
Европската Унија и Евро-парламентот продолжуват да им помагаат на своите држави-членки, Грција и Бугарија, во нивната бесрамна анти-македонска надворешна политика. И сега што имаме - неинформираност или анти-македонска политика? Се чини дека е сепак тоа второто. А ние чекаме за одговор – во прилог на итно повлекување на оваа бизарна резолуција.

Absolutely despicable. It's like we're back in the early 20th century where Bulgar morons incessantly lobby foreigners and misrepresent Macedonians. Some things never change. And something to keep in mind the next time Bulgar chauvinists say they are not enemies of the Macedonian people. As for the European Parliament, an unsurprising statement from a useless institution that has never taken Macedonia seriously. The main motivation of such move would have been to sandwich R.Macedonia between "Bulgarians" from the east and west, where a naive outsider could only infer that we must be Bulgarians too. This is just as ugly on the EU's behalf by supporting assimilation that should have no place in the modern world.
The globalists attitudes toward Macedonia is simply disgusting, I hope France can deal the final nail in the coffin for the EU as soon as possible.Comment

Why don't these European cunts just go and ask these people what they are, or did they just take Bulgaria's word for it.
In the article from Noviite, it says that Albania already recognizes various minorities including Macedonians, but do not Bulgarians. That's because there are no F****** Bulgarians in Albania. But according to Bulgaria the Macedonian minorities are torn between Bulgaria and Macedonia and thus a Bulgarian minority also needs to be recognized as well.
When is the last time any of these people expressed a desire to be Bulgarian, because I am not aware of any?Comment

They haven't had any luck amongst the Christian Macedonians so out of frustration they're desperately trying to reach out to the Muslim Macedonians of Golo Brdo and Gora. Nothing is off limits either in their slimy efforts to make dirty Bulgarians out of the Macedonians from these regions. The one proven incentive includes the promise of Bulgarian passports but I wouldn't be surprised if they have scraped the bottom of the scummy Bulgarian barrel clean with other innovative incentives. Poverty can make people do all sorts of unconscionable things but unfortunately for the Bulgarians, a dozen naïve village idiots here and there, does not a Bulgarian minority make. Even among the Muslim Macedonian population, it hasn't been such a fertile hunting ground for the Bulgarians and conversions are few and far between.
