    Human Skin Color

The Fitzpatrick Scale rates human skin color in six types:

    I Light, pale white
    II White, fair
III Medium, white to light brown
    IV Olive, moderate brown
    V Brown, dark brown
VI Very dark brown to black

How would you characterize yourselves on this scale?

    i

I don't like where this is going already, but I'm curious.

I am probably the lighter side of 3.

I would classify myself as type 4. Let me rephrase that. I have been told by others my complexion is what Fitzgerald would classify as type 4.

That would be pretty dark in my opinion, i would consider 4 something like a Turk, or Tunisian.

And the relevance of this being...?

I'm guessing that it's a raging 18th century hard-on that he has for racial markers of that period and this thread is merely a precursor for opening up yet another equally pointless study of haplotypes, as if he hasn't started enough of those fuckin threads already...

It was actually developed in 1975 by a Harvard University MD named Thomas Fitzpatrick. And no, it is not a precursor to open another thread.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this or not, but scientists classify human skin, hair, and eye colors in categories. It is a form of classification, no different than classifying plants and animals. It is part of the database of human knowledge.

The purpose of this thread is to gauge how the members of this forum identify their skin color in relation to the well-established Fitzpatrick Scale.

What would you consider this person:

                          And this person:

                          These are European women.

Granted, it is difficult to tell with women, as they wear foundation, but your opinion would nevertheless be appreciated.

I knew two guys in school years ago. One of the two is Albanian. And the other Greek. Both of them had light complexions and light hair. I'm not sure from which region the Greek was from, as we never really conversed. As for the Albanian, I never asked him.

Philosopher in post #14 the first picture, that woman is under a warm light that the photographer choose. Don't you think her skin color would appear much different in natural light?
