1500+ years old bible held in Turkey

There is a monastery in Turkish northern Cyprus which called as the monastery of St. Barnabas the apostle, founded by himself and allegedly contains his grave.

About 20 years ago, this monastery has been robbed by unknown group of people. They dug up it`s floor, walls during the nighttime. It was unknown what they were after and if they stole something buried inside it`s walls. A journalist in Cyprus claimed that they found a copy of the highly controversial bible of St. Barnabas in it and stole it. Then while this journalist was investigating the issue, he has been shot dead.

12 years ago, police found an old bible on someone came from Cyprus to Turkey. There was some rumors about that but this was neither confirmed nor denied by the police.

And 2 days ago, the bible which has been found 12 years ago has been shown to the public and given to the state museum for investigation. It`s been thought that this is the bible of St. Barnabas which has been stolen ~20 years ago.

It`s written on animal hide with a pen/inked on gold dust. It`s Aramaic and on first sight, some specialists said that this looks like a Palestinian Aramaic spoken by Jesus himself 2000 years ago. It`s been said that this tome is at least 1500 years old but it`s exact time will be known after carbon test and the text on it will be analyzed.

Btw the Pope immediately jumped on the case and they officially requested from Turkish government that people from Vatican to analyze the bible.
The Vatican has allegedly issued an official request to examine a 1,500-year-old Bible that has been held in Turkey for the past 12 years, the Hurriyet Daily News reports.

A Bible that is currently being kept in a museum in Ankara and is thought to be 1,500 years old includes a drawing of the Last Supper, media reports said on Friday.

A secret Bible in which Jesus is believed to predict the coming of the Prophet Muhammad to Earth has sparked serious interest from the Vatican. Pope Benedict XVI is claimed to want to see the 1,500-year-old book, which many say is the Gospel of Barnabas, that has been hidden by the Turkish state for the last 12 years.

Daily Mail claims that this bible predicts the coming of Mohammed but it`s not true. This is a centuries old belief, conspiracy theory by muslims. Muslims says that these gnostic bibles which has been destroyed by Roman church after councils, contains verses identical with Koran and also predicts the coming of Mohammed but this was never proven at all. But ofc there was no authentic gnostic bibles around to prove it but apparently we have now and after linguists analyze it, we will see if gnostic bible of St. Barnabas really predicts Mohammed or not.

As you know, the bible of St. Barnabas the apostle has been banned by the Roman councils and it`s all known copies has been destroyed. They called it as heretic because he was rejecting the idea of Jesus being the god, aka the concept of trinity. This gnostic concept of Jesus is quite same as the one in Koran.

Gnostic Christianity is not at all like the Koran. I think there are some small sects in this world that follow a version of Gnosticsm. There is a sect in Jordan or Iraq (cant remember) but they rever St. John the Baptist instead. This is a really good find, hopefully we can get some more info on it.

This is an amazing find. Don't let the pope sucks near it and even better don't even discuss it with them. It has long been rumoured that some bits of the Bible are missing because of the Catholics.

Just a side joke - it would be funny if by the time they get around to reading a translating every page it's near the end of 2012 and one translator reads,"It says here Jesus is suppose to come.... tomorrow!"

I didn't say all the gnostic concepts are like Koran. I just said that the concept of Jesus`s personality, story of his life, his status according to gnostics is similar to Koran but i don't know other points of the gnosticism. Already we cant, because all the authentic gnostic texts, bibles has been destroyed by Vatican and Constantinople and their followers has been burned on a stake if they refuse to convert to orthodox christianity. All the current so-called gnostic beliefs are based on rumors, oral stories, the information from Vatican and Constantinople. If this bible is really the bible of St. Barnabas, then we will have the very first publicly available copy of an authentic gnostic bible for more than millenia. As far as i know, the last authentic gnostic belief was the Bogomils of Balkans but they have been massacred by Constantinople, catholic Hungarians and crusaders. The last remaining Bogomils has been willingly converted as muslims as soon as Ottoman authority has been placed in order there. I am talking about the Bosnians. Bosnian bogomils converting to the islam is quite known fact but some people also claims that the other muslims like Pomaks was also formerly bogomils from Bulgaria and Thrace.

This ancient bible has been kept hidden by Turkish state for the last 12 years. Some people on tv said that it`s been kept hidden under high security and probably our intelligence agency already analyzed it. Some says if they revealed to the public, then this text should have no big importance but we don't know anything yet.

I am also highly skeptical about Vatican`s request. I believe if they had a change, they would have take it to the depths of Vatican and keep it secret `till the world`s end. I said there is not any authentic gnostic bibles today but it`s always been said that Vatican keeps some ancient copies for itself in secrecy.

there are a lot of things under wraps that the govt doesn't want people to know.I think if they let the cat out of the bag there may be no religion.

Why should the Catholics be the ones looking at the Bible why not the Orthodox Russian Church, do not give it to the Greeks. Since the Macedonians would not even be considered.
