The police are inherently horrible, racist thugs and George Floyd's death at the hands of Derek Chauvin proves it. I always thought the Left was against making such broad, sweeping generalisations against any group (let alone the police) but it seems they're more than happy to if they think it serves their purpose.

This is the height of hypocrisy. The numbers just don't stack up to suggest that most of the police are racist thugs that need disbanding to protect the general community from them. Aren't they there to serve and protect us from harm? But the facts don't matter it seems.

However, the numbers do stack up, as far as statistics go, to suggest that the black community in America is over-represented in violent crime. A well-known statistical data in America is that blacks comprise 13% of the overall US population but commit more than 50% of the homicides in that country. In addition, 93% of these homicides are committed on other blacks. Not only that but statistics released by the FBI also show that blacks are more likely to kill cops than be killed by cops. So, with all this in mind, is the Left willing to demonise the black community in the same way it has demonised the police as a result of these statistics? I doubt it.

I've actually heard that, annually, there are hundreds of millions of positive police interactions in the US but, somehow, the Left has chosen to dwell on these very few negative ones. In fact, not only the few negative ones in comparison to the vast majority, but the handful of "worst of the worst cases" as representing the behaviour of the majority of the police force. It's very clear that facts don't matter. Feelings matter and the narrative matters.

Getting rid of a city's whole police force for the actions of a few bad eggs...Smart move. I'm really interested in seeing how this "Community Led Public Safety System" goes. They have no idea what it will look like or consist of but they still vote to disband the police department wholesale while they iron out the details. Absolute geniuses.

Yes, a KGB type of safety system comes to mind but also "Lord of The Flies" comes to mind as well. The utopian and naive belief that everyone lives by the rules, peacefully and in harmony and that police aren't really needed will surely come back to bite them in the arse.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which is investigating the shooting, said the deadly confrontation started with officers responding to a complaint that a man was sleeping in a car blocking the restaurant's drive-thru lane. The GBI said Brooks failed a field sobriety test and then resisted officers' attempts to arrest him. The GBI released security camera video of the shooting Saturday. The footage shows a man running from two white police officers as he raises a hand, which is holding some type of object, toward an officer a few steps behind him. The officer draws his gun and fires as the man keeps running, then falls to the ground in the parking lot. GBI Director Vic Reynolds said Brooks had grabbed a Taser from one of the officers and appeared to point it at the officer as he fled, prompting the officer to reach for his gun and fire an estimated three shots. The security camera video recorded Brooks “running or fleeing from Atlanta police officers,” Reynolds said. “It appears that he has in his hand a Taser.”
Why did Rayshard Brooks feel the need to struggle and resist so much that he went as far as grabbing one of their weapons and making a run for it? DUI is not a major crime and he could contest it in court if he felt unfairly treated. On the other hand, how did the two police officers lose control of the situation and allow themselves to be partially disarmed during an arrest? And what should they have done with an allegedly intoxicated individual who had taken one of their weapons and tried to escape? In such instances, what is stipulated in police procedure and what is expected by the community? The Atlanta mayor has criticised the police, the police chief has already resigned as a result of the incident, the officer who fired the shots has lost his job and the other officer involved has been placed on administrative duty. Meanwhile, protesters who arrived at the scene afterwards have set fire to the Wendy's restaurant and nearby vehicles.

What do these people expect when they resist arrest, steal a police weapon, flee and then try to use that weapon against the police? They need a reality check.

Not defending John McDonogh's history as a slave owner, which is despicable. I certainly wouldn't want to see statues or schools named after some oppressive Ottoman official in Macedonia that terrorised the local Christian population. However, his relationship to slavery and African-Americans is a little more nuanced than that mentioned in the CNN article, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McDonogh

Police Chief Carmen Best, who joined Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan at a news conference Thursday afternoon, revealed that “ultimately the city had other plans for the building and relented to public pressure.” “You should know, leaving the precinct was not my decision,” Best told her fellow officers. “You fought for days to protect it. I asked you to stand on that line. Day in and day out, to be pelted with projectiles, to be screamed at, threatened and in some cases hurt. Then to have a change of course nearly two weeks in, it seems like an insult to you and our community.” On Wednesday, the Seattle Police Department said it would try to reopen the East Precinct, and Best was able to visit the location on Thursday. “Our calls for service have more than tripled,” she told reporters. “These are responses to emergency calls — rapes, robberies, and all sorts of violent acts that have been occurring in the area that we’re not able to get to.

At the press conference with Durkan, who claimed the occupants of the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” (CHAZ) were engaging in an act of “patriotism,” Best remained noncommittal on a when police might return to the area, but explained that the evacuation had come after reports that the precinct could be burned down. “We were asked to do an operational plan, in case we needed to leave,” Best said, not saying who exactly gave the order to withdraw. “We got an update that there was the potential for fire — of course if the precinct goes down in fire, the whole block could potentially burn up.”
Note the contrast between what the Police Chief is saying about not wanting to give up the area and how it is an insult to them and the community, with what the delusional mayor says about the Chazistanis exhibiting acts of "patriotism". One person lives in the real world, the other one is only interested in holding on to political power. Some other great initiatives in Chaz include this:
                https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ck-person.html

White supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement who are occupying an abandoned Seattle police precinct that has become known as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) are being urged to give $10 to an African American.
And the below picture of an apparent garden on cardboard which, mind you, is reserved only for African-American and Native American peoples - and their plant allies, which I am assuming they're going to eat should anything ever grow there. So it looks like even vegetables have joined their movement and are offering themselves up as a sacrifice.

California Investigates Hangings of 2 Black Men

Officials in two Southern California communities are investigating the hanging deaths of two African American men.

The body of 24-year-old Robert Fuller was found last week in Palmdale, hanging from a tree near City Hall.

Late last month, the body of Malcolm Harsch, who was 38, was also found hanging from a tree in Victorville, near a homeless campsite.

Authorities in both locations initially suspected the men had committed suicide but are now reserving final decisions in response to community uproar and pending further investigation.

Thousands of people turned out Saturday in Palmdale for a memorial for Fuller. Diamond Alexander, Fuller’s sister, said, “We just want the truth. My brother was not suicidal. He was a survivor.”

One woman told the Los Angeles Times that while officials suspected “suicide,” she suspected “a lynching.”

The Harsch family has issued a statement, saying that they “want justice, not comfortable excuses.” They added, “There are many ways to die but considering the current racial tension, a Black man hanging himself from a tree definitely doesn’t sit well with us right now.”

The U.S. has experienced protests across the country recently in response to the death of George Floyd, an African American man who died after a police officer pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes.

America has a long history with hanging or lynching black people. The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, a museum in Montgomery, Alabama, says it is a “national memorial acknowledging the victims of racial terror lynchings.”

The museum says on its website that the memorial “is a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection about racial terror in America and its legacy.”

Rayshard Brooks' autopsy shows he was shot in the back twice.
The two officers involved in the fatal shooting, Garrett Rolfe and Devin Bronsan, were fired and placed on administrative duty, respectively.

Through dialectics. Hegel, Marx's mentor, had an answer to this problem - probably because he knew that some clever clot would one day raise the obvious about socialism.

Dialectics - the resolution of a contradiction between two ideas through synthesis.

                              Thesis: Disband the police
                              Antithesis: We need the police
Marxist dialectic solution: Disband the police because we need them.

Simple really. If anyone has any further questions, imprison or shoot them.
