We can make parallels with the great cult of St. Patrick, which is important for the spread of Christianity in Western Europe. The Celtic island (Ireland) said, namely, conversion of the population conducted in 432, and introduced the first apostle, and the book "Confessions" won a place in world literature. Profile of Western universities can be seen from what they in the 13th century, following the basic ideas have four faculties: theology, medicine, law, philosophy. In Coimbra in 1290 were studied law, grammar, logic, philosophy of nature and medicine. Also, even during the 13th century Oxford was established school books system and programs. Well, it doesn't help being a Google translation. But I guess it might come down to a definition of what a "university" is or was.

Unfortunately, the Ohrid Literary School (or St. Clement University as it's called in the article) is not considered to fit the modern definition of a university.

As far as I know, there have always been Universities (from Classic antiquity until today) both in the West and the East. And they were Universities in the sense the author defines them, e.g. not a great Law School, or a great Philosophy School, but a great institution with many departments.
The Greek terms used during (Eastern) Roman Empire for Universities are very telling: Mega Didascaleion, Pandidacterion, Ecumenicon Didascaleion etc |
