Bulgaria's Memorandum makes the Prespa Agreement look like a Greek capitulation. Totally unacceptable in the 21st century and will do harm to Bulgaria's international image. They want us to somehow believe we are brethren with this medieval expansionist policy?

Bulgaria issues a memorandum to the EU claiming 20,000 "Bulgarians" were murdered by the state in the People's Republic of Macedonia in the 1940s and up to 100,000 were imprisoned in concentration camps. Also claims the Macedonian language is just one of six literary codifications for Bulgarian.
I know of two tragic histories in the world- that of Ireland, and that of Macedonia. Both of them have been deprived and tormented.

I agree that the fascist occupiers in Severdonia did commit mass murder during the 1940's and along with that came mass imprisonment. I hope the EU seriously investigates the claim.

Move to declare Ss. Cyril and Methodius as Bulgarians violates prior agreement with Macedonian historians

              URL:

The decision by the Bulgarian Parliament to declare Ss. Cyril and Methodius as fathers of “Bulgarian literacy” may complicate the agreement to have the 9th century saints jointly honored by Macedonia and Bulgaria.

Republika was told that the agreement reached last year between the two countries to have shared, joint celebrations of the work of the apostles who spread Christianity among Slavic nations and developed the first Slavic alphabet, was to name them the creators of “Slavic literacy”. The agreement was to avoid use of any modern national designation for Cyril and Methodius.

But after a proposal by a nationalist party, the Bulgarian Parliament voted to declare them “Bulgarian enlighteners” and fathers of “Bulgarian literacy”, designations which Bulgaria has frequently used in the past. The saints are honored on May 24, the day when they began their mission to Moravia and the central event is in Rome, where Cyril is buried. This move by Bulgaria could complicate the next celebration in Rome.

Bulgaria demands that Macedonia delivers on a number of concessions on historic issues and matters of national identity before it will allow the opening of EU accession talks, which Macedonia hopes will happen by the end of this year. One of the main issues is the Bulgarian request that Macedonian historians agree to label legendary VMRO leader Goce Delcev as a Bulgarian.

Poll shows 1% of Macedonians see Bulgaria as a friend

                URL:

The director of the Prespa Institute, Andrea Stojkovski, in a debate on “360 Degrees” spoke about the perceptions of the citizens about the Agreement with Bulgaria measured in a survey conducted for the needs of the institute.

If we look at the attitude of the Macedonian citizens towards the countries that we have followed in the whole survey, when asked which country or union is the best friend of Macedonia, Bulgaria is also ranked very low. Even generally speaking, it ranks very low. Only 1% of our citizens see Bulgaria as a friend of the country, says Stojkovski and estimates that the agreement is the reason for this.

According to Stojkovski, the survey considered several aspects – neighborhood, economic, political or cultural cooperation with 24 countries.

Bulgarian member of the European Parliament threatens Zaev with veto over his celebration of October 11

                    URL:

Bulgarian member of the European Parliament Andrey Kovatchev strongly denounced Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev for celebrating October 11, the day of the World War Two uprising against Bulgarian occupation forces in Macedonia. Zaev posted a meek message for what is one of the main holidays in Macedonia and carefully avoided mentioning Bulgaria as the enemy in 1941, but still the member of the European Parliament from the Bulgarian ruling GERB party was having none of it.

Why does Zaev need to engage in an anti-Bulgarian provocation at this time?, Kovatchev said, before giving his version of the partisan attacks on Prilep and Kumanovo, on October 11 1941. “A pro-Serbian killed a Bulgarian, who was father of three children and a relative of Dame Gruev. This is what they call a ‘national uprising’ and what they celebrate each year. Lies and anti-Bulgarian ideologies have no place in the EU”, Kovatchev wrote on his Facebook account, again threatening that Bulgaria will veto Macedonia’s request to open EU accession talks.

The longer this goes , the less value there is in EU membership...and in the Prespa prostration. ....at least from my worlds away view

Macedonians do not exist, they are a product of Tito’s engineering: “Vecernji List” analyzes the dispute with Bulgaria

                            URL:

According to the Croatian newspaper “Vecernji List”, Bulgaria has eight demands on what the implementation of the friendship agreement with Macedonia should look like.

The newspaper writes that the memorandum shared by the Bulgarian diplomacy with the EU member states states that Macedonia is threatened with a blockade on the start of negotiations with the EU by Bulgaria, which demands that the Macedonian language be called the “official language of the Republic of Macedonia”.

The enlargement process must not legitimize the ethnic and linguistic engineering that took place during the former authoritarian regimes, Bulgarian diplomacy wrote in a document shared with other member states.

The Permanent Representatives Committee, which includes ambassadors from all EU member states, discussed the issue at yesterday’s EU Council meeting in Brussels.

The Bulgarian representative distributed a “memorandum of clarification” highlighting the Bulgarian version of history in which the adjective “Macedonian” does not denote national identity, but geographical origin because “geographically and historically Macedonia is an area that today lies within the borders of six countries,” the Bulgarians said.

They add that Josip Broz Tito imposed a “new identity” on people who had previously declared themselves Bulgarians, Serbs later wanted to identify them as “southern Serbs”, and Tito declared them Macedonians. And he did that, write the Bulgarians, inspired by the decisions of the Comintern.

“Vecernji List” reminds that the EU member states “want to officially reward Skopje for its hard work at the beginning of negotiations with the EU, and that Zaev’s government has also agreed to change the country’s name in order to remove obstacles to the start of negotiations coming from Greece…

An agreement on friendly relations was signed with Bulgaria, which was to remove Bulgarian obstacles. But Bulgarians continue to threaten with vetoes.

Eight specific demands relate to Bulgaria’s interpretation of what the signed friendship agreement with Macedonia should look like in practice.

Macedonians should agree that there is no Macedonian minority in Bulgaria. The victims of the Yugoslav communist regime who suffered because they declared themselves Bulgarians need to be rehabilitated.

Through the work of a joint commission of historians and other experts, the two governments should agree on “key figures and events in our common history up to 1944,” Vecernji List wrote.

Bulgaria wants to get a signoff from Zaev we sent the Jews to Treblinka

                                URL:

Neither the Macedonian language nor Goce Delcev hinders the moronic negotiations between Bulgaria and Macedonia. Zaev has already sold the language and Goce Delcev to Sofia, but apparently this wasn’t enough. The biggest problem is the period of the Second World War when Bulgaria in alliance with Germany and Italy expelled the Jews from Macedonia to the Treblinka camp. Although Bulgaria is unequivocally responsible for this crime against humanity, official Sofia wants to force the complete imbecile of a human being Zoran Zaev to sign off and make Macedonia responsible for this crime. And you can’t blame Sofia for the way they think: Zaev signed-off on everything the Greeks asked, why can’t we get him to sign anything too!”

Although we have known about this for three weeks, but couldn’t confirm it, historian Skender Asani through his connections in the Government junta was able to confirm it in an interview this evening.

"The main dispute between Macedonia and Bulgaria is the period of World War II, ie the expulsion of 7,189 Jews from Skopje to Treblinka. About the Holocaust? Yes. Why? “Bulgaria was in on the Axis side in WWII and Skopje was under Bulgarian occupation,” Asani said in “10 MINUTES” on TV21.

The Macedonian-Bulgarian commission, its existence is a huge mistake, because they don’t care for history or facts to make a decision, it’s all politics… says historian Skender Asani. He adds that the only solution is to establish permanent offices in Sofia and Skopje.

“From the beginning it has become a problem and now we see those red lines of the two delegations that at the moment do not see an appropriate solution. Asani told TV21.
