Skopjian just refers to someone from Skopje
I know of two tragic histories in the world- that of Ireland, and that of Macedonia. Both of them have been deprived and tormented.

No it doesn't in the context that the Greeks use it, they use it as derogatory term for all Macedonians

Why is Shiptar offensive? What would you rather be called?

Yea ... when I read your reply first I was gonna say like no that is not what I meant blah blah. Then I realised that you are right. The power of words is so interesting.

The reason why I asked is that Greeks use the word ''Skopje'' to denounce the Macedonian republic. However they tend use ''FYROM'' more when speaking to a foreigner, so they see ''Skopje'' as a harsher term. That is why I asked.

Not exactly, we mostly use these terms in Greece. I was abroad speaking to Germans and Italians. I was not using FYROM because I thought they wouldn't understand me.

Greeks rarely use "Skopje" in English but "FYROM" quite alot. I am pretty sure there are exceptions too for those who call it just Macedonia like you.
