Assassinations, Liquidations and Fratricide by Macedonian Revolutionaries

This thread is to document assassinations of enemies and liquidations of traitors (successful or not) by Macedonian revolutionaries from the past. It can also include examples of fratricide among Macedonians from different factions during the turbulent periods of the 19th and 20th centuries. Below are a few that immediately spring to mind, some of which have already been mentioned on other threads in this forum. If anybody can contribute to expand on the list, please do so, and I will progressively add them to the first post.

Stefan Stambolov, a year after resigning from his position as Prime Minister of Bulgaria, was attacked in his carriage by Macedonians as he was travelling to his home, and repeatedly stabbed. His hands were torn from his arms, but he managed to survive for a few days, until he finally died on the 6th July, 1895. Some Macedonians also attended and jeered at his funeral. In Macedonian circles he was despised for perceived collaboration with the Turks and for ordering the murder of VMRO leaders. In Bulgaria he is considered an important figure who was one of the 'founders' of their modern state.

Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Tsar of Bulgaria, had an attempt on his life made while travelling in his carriage by a young Macedonian anarchist named Vladimir Naidanov on the 26th April, 1909. The reason for his actions was revenge for the death of Macedonian patriots. Upon being sentenced to prison, he vowed to kill Ferdinand when released.

Aleksandar Stamboliiski, Prime Minister of Bulgaria, was murdered by VMRO members on the 14th June, 1923, after he was ousted from government in a coup d’état. He was hostile towards Macedonians and had previously signed the Treaty of Niš with the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, aiming to supress the activities of VMRO. The hand he used to sign the treaty was cut off, as was his head, which was later sent to Sofia in a tin box.

Petar Chaulev, a Macedonian activist who was incorrectly assumed to be implicated in the murder of Todor Aleksandrov, was liquidated by another Macedonian named Dimitri Stefanov in Milan (Italy), on the 23rd December, 1924. The death sentence may have been passed during a meeting that was chaired by Aleksandar Protogerov.

Aleksandar Karageorgevič, the King of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (known as Yugoslavia from 1929 onward), was assassinated in Marseille (France) by the VMRO member known as Vlado Černozemski on the 9th October, 1934. It was one of the first public assassinations to ever be caught on film. The people from the part of Macedonia under Serbian occupation received no recognition and were severely oppressed.
In the name of the blood and the sun, the dagger and the gun, Christ protect this soldier, a lion and a Macedonian.

    Bump...........
I know of two tragic histories in the world- that of Ireland, and that of Macedonia. Both of them have been deprived and tormented.
