Cyprus president whining like a spoiled brat

President: Cyprus and Greece suffer under neo-colonial policies
President Christofias held a meeting in Athens with his Greek counterpart Karolos Papoulias, during which he thanked him for his firm support as regards the Cyprus problem.

“The struggle continues. We will keep in contact, hoping that one day Cyprus and Greece will be vindicated”, President Christofias said after the meeting.

Furthermore he said that “Greece and the Greek people may not suffer under any occupation, but they suffer under the neo-colonial policies, including the ones of the EU”, adding that he expressed this view already during the recent meeting he held with the Presidents of the European Council, the Commission and the European Parliament, Herman van Rompuy and Joze Barroso and Martin Schulz.

“We promised the people of Greece and Cyprus better days within the EU. And I wonder, where is the Union’s solidarity? Oppression exists, social injustice expands, ordinary people pay the price while others speculate. This is the reality” he said.

But President Christofias expressed his gratitude towards the EU for its support as regards the Cyprus problem and the sovereign rights of the Republic in terms of its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

Concluding, he referred to the Cyprus EU Presidency (July – December 2012) saying that Cyprus has "proved that there are no small or big presidencies. There are good and not good presidencies ".

Taking the floor, the Greek President said that the two had a “firm and sincere relation”, adding that the conversations they held were characterized by their strong concern about the future of Cyprus and its national problem.

Later on, President Christofias held a meeting with President of the Greek Parliament Evaggelos Meimarakis, whom he thanked for Greece’s long-lasting support to Cyprus.

President Christofias expressed his disappointment with the EU, saying that financial problems, caused by the banks, have led Cyprus to the European Support Mechanism, but “instead of support, we feel persecuted”. He was referring to the objections by many EU member states to agree on a bailout for Cyprus, citing money laundering accusations.

Referring to the Cyprus problem, President Christofias said that Cyprus is one step ahead of Turkey, “which refuses even to proceed to the negotiating table”.

Meimarakis expressed confidence that despite their problems, Cyprus and Greece will overcome the crisis and convince their partners that the programms they follow should be based on social cohesion and the numerous sacrificies of the people.

Referring to Turkey’s relations to Greece, Meimarakis noted that normalization of those relations "passes through the settlement of the Cyprus problem”.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkish troops invaded and until today they occupy 37% of Cyprus’ territory (situated in the northern areas).

The Republic of Cyprus, which became a full EU member state in May 2004, held its first EU Presidency between July and December 2012.

Presidential elections will take place in Cyprus on the 17th of February. President Christofias will not seek reelection. The main three candidates are Nicos Anastasiades (right wing), Stavros Malas (left wing) and Giorgos Lillikas (independent).

Turkey had every right to intervene in Cyprus. It was not an "illegal action" as the greeks claim. The greeks always warp everything from their own interests. We have to meet these whiners, liars greece head on on all fronts.

What is the story with Cyprus anyway? I haven't bothered to find out more about it.

what a liar he really is.
"Ido not want an uprising of people that would leave me at the first failure, I want revolution with citizens able to bear all the temptations to a prolonged struggle, what, because of the fierce political conditions, will be our guide or cattle to the slaughterhouse"

Its funny seeing the Greeks start to whine and piss and moan after they worked so hard to kiss their asses and be the good boy in their eyes when it didn't go their way.
