Out of Control A1 TV visited by Police

    Thursday, 25 November 2010

A1 TV was visited this evening by a dozen policemen. Although it isn't known the true purpose of the visit, here is a list of one of the possibilities, according to our Skopje based correspondent Antonio Sazdovski who has followed the ins and outs at A1 for 15 years.

"There could be hundreds of reasons for the police being present at A1, frankly everything and anything this station and its owner have done is classified as illegal under the existing laws", says Antonio.

    1. Velija Ramkovski, A1's owner apart from owning TV station is also the owner of printed dailies "Vreme" and "Spic" which is illegal under the Monopoly laws. Moreover, he is also their editor-in-chief, which he himself has said many times while replacing editors who deviated from his orders. It is nothing new in the world for every medium to have its editorial policy that reflects its relationship towards the public, the political, and the economic processes in the state. This is the case with all relevant media. However, it is completely different when the medium is in the function of daily trading and financial interests of the owner.

A1's editors and journalists have no idea what an editorial policy is because the view of the Medium changes every day depending on whether the trucks of their Owner have been allowed to cross the border or not, whether he has received a warning for not paying his taxes, whether the previous night he had promised his friends to make them heads of the Football Federation, or whether he has promised his Albanian partners a new mosque building.

    2. A1's Owner owes $2 Million Dollars to the US Government, something he hasn't repaid in well over a decade. The money were a loan that was suppose to be distributed among all private TV stations. The $2 million ended up at A1. When Gordana Stosic, A1's famous editor from the 1990's suspected Velija Ramkovski is using his staiton for money laundering, she was quickly fired from her post.

    3. Snezana Lupevska, another famous A1 journalist and editor refused to attack Trifun Kostovski and Hari Kostov of Komercijalna Banka because A1's Owner owed money to both of them, she also left A1. Ramkovski has publicly said he would not pay his credit back to Komercijalna Banka!

    4. Velija Ramkovski owes 700,000 Euros to the know defunct Swedmilk, yet through his TV station advocated and forced the Swedmilk workers to protest in front of the Government, even though he is the one who owes money to them.

    5. Velija Ramkovski's printing companies Cetis and Europe 92 owe 200,000 Euros (Court Order), yet he has no intention of ever paying this as well. Currently the Court can not (is not willing) to execute this order because the judge is under Crvenkovski's control. Therefore Ramkovski (A1) is very friendly with Crvenkovski and the SDSM.

"This list can go on forever. I didn't even bother to explain of the ethnic hatred spread by A1, this is a reality seemingly accepted by everyone. Lastly I will add that A1's owner has been producing a spice called "Tuzot" which the Health Authorities have found to be very harmful to people's health, yet no one seems to be able to put an end to this product. Recently Ramkovski has started producing a detergent using the "OHIS" logo (popular Macedonian brand) without paying any royalties for it", says Antonio.

It's a miracle Mr. Ramkovski has not been imprisoned by now. There should be nothing strange about the police presence at A1 TV, rather this was a long time coming.

Currently A1 is speaking of fascism and is asking for 'help' from all the Embassies. The TV Station also spoke of 'fascism' and 'dictatorship' when Komercijalna Banka attempted to get their money back or seize the A1 building because Ramkovski had listed it as a hipotheque.

Update: MINA was informed that the police present at A1 is in fact the Financial Police accompanied by the Taxation Agency...

          This is all related:

Left-wing opposition urges snap election after Macedonia fails to join NATO

          By: The Associated Press
          Posted: 21/11/2010 2:08 PM

SKOPJE, Macedonia - Macedonia's opposition leader has urged a snap election after the country failed at a NATO summit in its second bid to join the alliance.

Branko Crvenkovski addressed a rally of several thousand left-wing opposition supporters Sunday in the central Macedonian town of Stip. They say the government's policies are failing to secure economic growth and Macedonia's participation in NATO and the European Union.

Greece has blocked Macedonian efforts to join NATO since 2008. The alliance reiterated at the NATO summit in Lisbon that Macedonia will be invited to join after resolving its 20-year dispute with Greece over the country's name.

The next election is due to take place in 2012.

A story that is related (guess whos name is mentioned with Ramkovski)

Free Online Library: Velija, return the money and then tell stories.(EN "VECER") by "Weekly News Service"; News, opinion and commentary General interest Football

Velija, return the money and then tell stories.

Velija is waking up and early in the morning he is recommending Crvenkovski and his people which topic to dedicate themselves to these days: starting from football, dairies, via detergents and churches, to human rights and journalists' extortions ... all topics are opened. The SDSM has found itself in the position of receiving orders and commands from Velija Ramkovski.

One can see on many places in Skopje the graffiti A1=SDSM. However, this graffiti is not reflecting the entire reality. It is generally known among the public that Velija Ramkovski is the owner of A1 TV Station, and there are many statements and proofs for his rule over the dailies VREME and SPIC. Moreover, he is also their editor-in-chief, which he himself has said so many times while replacing editors. It is nothing new in the world for every medium to have its editorial policy that reflects its relationship towards the public, the political, and the economic processes in the state. This is the case with all relevant media. However, it is completely different when the medium is in the function of daily trading and financial interests of the owner, or in the case of Velija Ramkovski, of the ruler of the media.

The editors and journalists do not know what an editorial policy is to be able to follow it. As the view of the medium is changing every day, depending on whether the trucks of the boss have been allowed to pass the border or not, whether he has received a warning for not covering the taxes, whether the night before he had promised his friends to make them heads of the Football Union, whether the City Center needs a new mosque mosque (mŏsk), building for worship used by members of the Islamic faith. Muhammad's house in Medina (A.D. 622), with its surrounding courtyard and hall with columns, became the prototype for the mosque where the faithful gathered for prayer. ... because of which in Velija's media, more often than in the other media, whole editorial teams are expelled, as well as journalists working in A1, in A2, or in any other Velija's frms ... whole editorial teams have abandoned Velija in the past few years, starting from Gordana Stosik after Velija cheated her and did not pay back the credit of US 2 million that she provided for him from the United and after Croatia and Gordana Stosik had started an investigation in A1 for money laundering...afterwards Aco Kabranov and his colleagues left because Crvenkovski could not pay back Velija's debt to the United States, but pressed him under the pressure of the U.S. Embassy ... and finally, there is the last transfer when Snezana Lupevska, the editor who did not agree with the persecutions against Trifun and Hari Kostov because Velija owed them money, left the A1. He owed Trifun city taxes and Kostov the credit from Komercijalna Banka, about half a million Euros each, without the intention of paying, about which he publicly informed.

He equally did not pay his debt to Swedmilk of over 700,000 Euros according to the information from the factory. This sum had a large merit for stopping the operations of the factory and for leaving the milkmen penniless.

If we add to this that there are court judgments for 200,000 Euros for each of his firms, the printing houses Cetis and Europe 92, which surprisingly enough the Court cannot execute, then it is clear why Velija Ramkovski is doing what he is doing. This is why Velija's editors and journalists are far from being what their visit cards write; on the contrary, they are administrators for payment and for manipulations of delivered requests that must be postponed or evaded at any cost. Normally, the Journalists' Association has never, in any of the listed cases, stood in defense of the editors or journalists from his media. They are under the control of Soros, who is the main financer of the A1 TV Station equipment and mentor to his journalists. When Velija closed down the magazine SEGA, his Branko Gerovski was given a new job in SPIC and never said a word about this. The Journalists' Association didn't speak either. When the journalists left Velija, as well as the entire Albanian newspaper KOHA, who said at a press conference that he was pressing them to write against Ali Ahmeti the Journalists' Association did not speak again. It was quite normal for them. And it is not. The Sorosoids made no reactions either. The commercial ambitions of Velija Ramkovski determine, on a daily basis, the editorial policy of his media. Whoever mentions this, or whoever refuses to work for him on this plan, is brutally attacked if he is from the outside or expelled from work if he is from the inside. A number of people who have not been on the same line with Velija have been subjected to slanders, attacks, prosecutions, and brutalities in his media. And this is not a conflict of ideas and ideologies, but a struggle for providing privileges for his businesses that are very often out of the Law, as is the illegally constructed storehouse and the A1 TV Station that cannot be resolved in years because the authorities have no access to measure the space and the value of the premise. For years Velija has been producing the "Tuzot" spice that was banned because it was harmful for the health of the people. The state cannot implement a law because his Sorosoids provide him protection from the strong embassies that present as a blow against the media every action of the customs or the inspection against his violations of the law. Velija tried to incorporate himself with the same habits in Gruevski's Government as well. He is offering his TV Station and his media in return for logistics to continue in his old fashion. Neither less nor more, but he is asking for control of the agricultural area, he requires his person to be in the lead of the Football Association, he wants the Revenue Administration and the Customs Office to overlook his faults, he is asking for Swedmilk, as well as OHIS for the production of his detergents that will bear the OHIS logo without paying for it ... but the Government does not have an understanding for all this and it does not want to join his schemes and be his hostage. Infuriated by these reactions, Velija decides to attack Gruevski's Government with all possible means and force it to illegal cooperation. His media are opening affairs where there are not any, fabricating constructions of the type like the one that Gruevski had fed to Zagreb on a meeting with the EBRD in order to avoid a meeting with U. S. Vice Secretary of State who was pressing him about the name ... although it is well known that all the prime ministers from the region attended the meeting with the EBRD and Gruevski returned from there with half a billion Euros investments thanks to the cooperation that he established with the EBRD. By the way, the meeting with U. S. vice Secretary of State was held in Zagreb. In these attacks, journalists like Borjan Jovanovski, Branko Gerovski, and some others are his logistics. Some of them have also played a role in the famous scandal Factory, as a group of journalists on Buckovski's payroll. Velija is pressing Gruevski to change the name according to the Greek proposal, thus flirting with the Greeks and their supporters here.Velija is inciting tensions about the constructions on Skopje Main Square, especially against the construction of the church. Velija is fabricating an image according to which Gruevski is on the verge of losing power, that his rating is totally ruined, that he is creating inter-ethnic tensions ... and at the same time he is pressing the BDI to step out from the Government because the Albanians are dissatisfied with this Government, although it was precisely Velija who was asking his journalists to attack Ali Ahmeti ... In order to have it all, he is using the SDSM. Crvenkovski, with all the methods and experiences that he has, cannot elevate the SDSM's rating to over 10-12 percent, while his own is even lower than that. In such a depression in the party, Crvenkovski is forced to cooperate with Velija at any cost. There is no doubt that Crvenkovski has accepted to fulfill all Velija's conditions, and we know which they are, only for the sake of getting his support and promotion. And now Velija is the first person in the SDSM, he is deciding about the actions. Branko travels around Macedonia, in villages, meeting peasants close to the SDSM, who are persuaded against the Government, while Velija's media make central news out of it. Crvenkovski promised Velija the Football Union, because of which Branko is opening topics saying that the football is not good in Macedonia because of Gruevski's Government; although it is well known that the Football Federation has a full and internationally guaranteed autonomy and Gruevski is distanced from the events there because of which he had a public conflict with Hadziristeski. Velija is openly saying that he will change the name of the state and that if we do not accept the Greek proposal the Macedonian stability will be in danger. When he was offering himself to Gruevski last year, he even formed a board for the protection of the constitutional name. When the Government refused to cover for his businesses, he changed his attitude overnight, and now he is in the lead of those who want to ruin Gruevski. He hopes that if one day the inspections decide that his businesses are illegal, and this will definitely happen, a part of the embassies, together with the SDSM, will protect him from the consequences of these illegal activities.

We will all pay for this Velija's bargain. We are all responsible for acts against the Law, while he has protection and can do whatever he pleases. Velija is asking Branko to meet workers facing redundancy, milkmen and other dissatisfed groups, for him to follow Branko with his cameras and journalists, although this is tragic and comical, because the workers facing redundancy are Branko's products. However, Crvenkovski has no choice, he is weak and without public support, because of which he has to pay attention to Velija. Finally, Branko said that he would withdraw from policy if he lost the elections in 2012. These elections are fatal for him personally. With what Branko is doing, plus the suspicious deals with Velija, it is even more certain that Crvenkovski will be defeated. There are tens of thousands of people who might vote for the SDSM, but they will definitely vote against Branko Crvenkovski. If the ballots against Branko Crvenkovski mean opening a future for the SDSM, it is worth voting against him.

These people think they are above the law, the Financial Police are coming in with a court order and A1 is using it to manipulate the public.

A1 Calls In the Thugs to Fight off Financial Police?
              Thursday, 25 November 2010

Bizarre scenes at A1's TV Station in Skopje as group of 20 individuals, believed to be closely associated with the opposition have attacked policemen standing outside the building.

Several of these people managed to unlawfully enter the building where with journalists and the Station's owner seemed to be determined on picking a fight with the Financial police/UJP who are also inside the station in an attempt to gather documentation for alleged tax evasion.

Our correspondent in Skopje, Antonio Sazdovski is at the TV Station and says the arrival of these 'youths' seemed to be well organized as they showed up at the same time in three dark SUVs.

The police is trying to control the situation though things may get out of hand as currently cops are being provoked not just by the group of youths, but A1's journalists and their owner have become increasingly physical and have refused to cooperate with the Financial Police and the UJP.

Update1: The Station managed to turn its refusal to pay taxes into a political thing. Our correspondent who is present outside A1's Offices confirmed that the people who fought the police were indeed SDSM activists as originally suspected. Mr. Sazdovski also confirmed the arrival of politicians from the SDSM, New Democracy and Liberal Party. "Some of the politicians stayed outside, though several of them entered A1's offices." says Antonio.

"Right now there are probably over 150 SDSM activists. The relationship between A1 and SDSM seems to be much closer than I anticipated. Either way, thugs or no thugs, A1 will still have to answer the UJP's requests for financial documentation" says our correspondent.

"The police has been incredibly calm, and have not 'hit back' to dozens of provocations and physical attacks by SDSM activists and surprisingly the journalists. However, one of the commanders not too far away from me requested a back up via his radio, which in police language means the 'special police' is arriving who may not be as kind as the local police currently providing security for the Taxation Authorities." says Antonio in his report from Madzari, where A1 is situated.

Update2: More SDSM activists are arriving at A1's offices. The police has blocked off the area, not allowing more people at the station. The arrival of each activist contibuted to increased tensions between them and the police.

Makedonin, It was the 6 companies that were in the A1 building that were linked with the same address. There is talk that over 40 companies are registered under the same address, UJP found money and documents they also found out that these were infact phantom groups used for money laundering.

Interview with Goran Trajkovski from UJP

Here is another one, this time questions are raised from an A1 journalist.

They've known about this for months, they'd had a court order for over a year but the people in the A1 building never allowed them to come in and do their job.

Goran Trajkovski gave a good example, if your in an unregistered car, without a license, drunk behind the wheel and have illegal weapons in the boot then your not exactly going to stop the car for a random police check.
MoI seizes Computers, Cash ...

                                Friday, 26 November 2010

Police early on Friday seized several computers, papers and a large sum of money - reportedly in amount of over 100.000 euros - from an apartment in Skopje's Cair settlement, which is owned by a manager of one of the firms registered at "Pero Nakov" street in Skopje.

This was stated by Minister of Interior Affairs Gordana Jankuloska at a press conference presenting latest information involving last night's events in and outside the premises of A1 private TV station, located on "Pero Nakov" street.

"It is being assumed that items, papers and money were taken out from the premises on "Pero Nakov" street during the day while tax inspectors had been isolated in certain rooms in the building," she said.

The Minister stated that consultations with the public prosecutor's office were under way, after which adequate charges would be filed.

MoI at the moment has no information about the whereabouts of A1 TV owner, Velija Ramkovski.

Minister Jankuloska said police officers were deployed late Thursday on "Pero Nakov" street upon a request for assistance issued by the financial police and the Public Revenue Office (PRO), which investigated firms registered on the same address with a court order.

"The investigation involved activities that are not related to the work of A1 TV. The goal of the investigation was to provide evidence on possible financial crime and fraud of the firms," Jankuloska stated.

Draining of EUR7,5 million from Macedonia to tax heaven countries was the main reason for yesterday's visit of inspectors of the Public Revenue Office (PRO) and financial police to six of 26 companies, located in a building on "Pro Nakov" street, which also houses the A1 TV station , PRO Director Goran Trajkovski told a separate press conference on Friday.

The control was aimed for firms suspected of tax fraud and believed to have sent the proceeds of their activities abroad, Trajkovski said.
