    Macedonians in the Melbourne Moomba

Just for the record, the Macedonians were mentioned at about 11.10am by Jennifer Keyte on the channel 7 broadcast of the Moomba. In the parade, there was a group of young folk dancers in traditional dress, a band at its heels playing an 'igraorna', and two flags were present, the original and the 'new'.

Macedonians are one of the long-standing communities within the greater Melbournian and Australian communities, and in strong numbers across the country.

At 11.56am, on the same broadcast, Jennifer Keyte's co-host Andrew O'Keefe, just mentioned the "Scotsmans, Chinese, Macedonians and Greeks all together" in reference to the multiculturalism of Melbourne.

    Good on them both.

        So he should be

Right on Prolet. Good on SoM. I was watching the parade on tv and thought id take a quick look at mto as a break time thing and was surprise to see the thread so quickly after it was on tv. Wow real time posting. It would be good to see the media giving Macedonians positive recognition more often. I wonder if this Greek economic theft thing has to do with it. Koche on sunrise says something about it at least every other day whereas in the past any reference to Greece was always in a glowing light.

They also played a clip on channel 9 that night and said they same thing. Showed footage of the Macedonian group dancing and never mentioned Greek.
From the village of P’pezhani, Tashko Popov, Dimitar Popov-Skenderov and Todor Trpenov were beaten and sentenced to 12 years prison. Pavle Mevchev and Atanas Popov from Vrbeni and Boreshnica joined them in early 1927, they were soon after transferred to Kozhani and executed. As they were leaving Lerin they were heard to shout "With our death, Macedonia will not be lost. Our blood will run, but other Macedonians will rise from it"

The Macedonian community in Australia has to start archiving these media events, I know that others have mentioned this initiative previously but we still must try and make it a reality.

I wonder what it would cost to fund such a project on a professional level?

Good point Pheonix. There is the Multicultural Festival at Fed Square this Sunday. Are the Macedonians going to be there?

The Moordialloc Festival is also happening. Is there going to be Macedonian representation there?

I have an idea how to get us out there. Will talk to you all about it at the AMHRC dinner. Osiris, you know what I'm talking about here.

We can do more and we should do more.
