how big is our team these olympics? who should we be watching for? are there any medal hopefulls?

No it will be small like always with no medal hopefuls. Unfortunately our handball and waterpolo teams didn't make it from qualifications a couple of months ago so it is left to our basketball team next month. It will be tough but if we came fourth in eurobasket we have the quality to qualify for the olympics.

With a shortage of competitive athletes it may be an opportune time to ban/withdraw from the Olympics until we are recognised as Macedonia, without that b.s. acronym. Alternatively we could seek the renaming of the games to "World Games", get rid of any reference to Greeks, Hellenes, Olympic!

Don't forget, the Olympics did not choose to call us Fyrom, the Macedonian government was the the one who chose the name to be used in international organizations. Until the Macedonian government withdraws from negotiating our identity and withdraws the Fyrom nonsense from the UN, the Olympics will continue to use that name.

Very true, perhaps the government may take the opportunity to withdraw from the games due to NATO membeship not forthcoming?

Seriously guys we are 23 years since independency the fyrom name was mean't to be an interim name(short) period until macedonia picked a proper name.But did they know greece would meddle in their affairs & our politicians are so willing to negotiate our name.Has anyone consulted us on whether we even want talks about our name.Who is this nazi of a country called greece dictating who we are.They do know who we are & they ought to have no problem with our name.
