That's one concern. Hopefully he has the courage to stand firm and not crumble under the pressure. But there are other concerns. I think it's likely that Ivanov had good intentions when he first became president, and perhaps this latest speech is a legacy of those good intentions. Unfortunately, he too has been inconsistent regarding the issue with Greece. He has advocated for a dual-name solution, then for no compromise on the national name, then back to compromise. There is still something decent about his acknowledgement of our cultural and ancestral heritage, but he is either too weak or scared to do his duty as president. This speech of his may look good to some of us at first glance, because, let's face it, we are comparing it to an agreement which will essentially decimate our identity and connection to our past in an official capacity - both inside and outside of Macedonia. But what if his two main points of contention were satisfied, at least partially? I'm specifically referring to the below:
I told them that this harmful agreement means abandonment of the already built substantive state positions, which were confirmed at the last two leaders' meetings. These are: non-alteration of the Constitution and non-acceptance of a name for overall use, or erga omnes.
As far as the name of the state goes, these two points are intertwined and can only mean one thing, which is the dual-name formula. Basically, don't change the name in the constitution and continue to use the Republic of Macedonia inside Macedonia itself, thereby eliminating the possibility of erga omnes. And find a compromise name for all other (international) uses. Notice that Ivanov doesn't specifically reject the new name proposed by Zaev, but rather he rejects the manner in which it would be applied? If Zaev stuck to his earlier (alleged) position from a couple of months ago where he seemed to reject any changes to the constitution, would Ivanov have even made a speech like this? Perhaps in his limitless effort to appease his foreign masters, Zaev reached too far. Alas, nothing has really changed from either side. DPNE are willing to trade off the national identity of our state on an international level, SDS are willing to alter our national identity on nearly all levels. So we have come full circle and are back at the endless 'lesser of two evils' debate, except this time, the 'bigger' evil has the backing of our enemies and the whole western world. At this point, do the people of Macedonia who cherish their Macedonian heritage even stand a chance?

Globalist puppet Borisov has canceled his meeting with Ivanov due to his "arrogant" rejection of the agreement:

I wouldn't be surprised if Zaev put the tatar up to it. Those two clowns share a disturbing affinity for each other.

                  Hi Kompir

The president of Macedonia calls out this "agreement" as nothing more than a lie to the Macedonian people. He denounced every part of it.

And what are the Macedonian people of the republic going to do? We will see I guess.

I like him. Perhaps even more after this speech.

The headline in the link below says it all when it comes to the current Macedonian Government's total disregard and abandonment of Aegean Macedonians. Being the principled and ethical partners that they are with regard to the recent Prespa Agreement, they have all dutifully shyed away from this year's Ilinden celebrations at Trnovo, which is traditionally organised by descendants of Aegean Macedonians living in Bitola. Not a single politician associated with the current Government showed up to support the event. After all, they can't be seen to be in conflict with the stipulated Greek clauses of the agreement now can they? What a total bunch of sellout dogs...Actually, I take that back. Dogs can be loyal. I love dogs. In fact, there are no animals low enough to describe these rotting and soulless excuses for Macedonians. Scum of the Earth, that's the best way to describe them.

I really enjoyed this video. Compare the two welcoming tributes for Government officials arriving at Mechkin Kamen : 1) Welcoming the current ruling party, which, as the video's poster notes, was put in power by foreign Ambassadors and 2) Welcoming Georgi Ivanov, who was put in power by the people.

While I'm impressed with Ivanov's speech, I am still disheartened that he is a supporter of the Bulgarian Friendship Treaty, which has us celebrating "common holidays" with Bulgaria and creating a common history.

Just two months ago, Ivanov said this about the Friendship Treaty:

Skopje, 15 June 2018 (MIA) - President Gjorge Ivanov met during his official visit to Bulgaria with Macedonian nationals, businessmen and culture activists in the Sofia-based Macedonian Culture and Information Center.

Ivanov said the Macedonia-Bulgaria Friendship Treaty has opened new perspectives and created a fresh environment in bilateral relations, the President's Office said in a press release.

He said the Bulgarian EU Presidency has managed to bring back the Union's focus back on the Balkans.

"Bulgaria has helped us and the entire region, which was at the sidelines of EU's interest before. Now we are back on the European agenda," noted Ivanov.

One treaty has us wiping out Macedonian history and identity, while the other has it being replaced with Bulgarian history and identity. In my opinion, both are equally dangerous; and that Ivanov cannot see that (or will not see that), troubles me.
