when members of the self-described Australian Macedonian Human Rights Committee complained about criticisms I had made of the incumbent president and, indeed, government of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. I received correspondence in February this year from the President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, Justice Catherine Branson QC.
What a kopuk, AMHRC has been around for more then 25 years. What a disgusting comment that is.

      Rann's chief of staff

TAXPAYERS paid the South Australian Premier's chief of staff about $80,000 more than the Government reported in its yearly salary reports.

In evidence given to the Budget and Finance committee this week, Department of Premier and Cabinet chief executive Chris Eccles confirmed Nick Alexandrides' total remuneration package was between $250,000-$259,000, rather than the $175,201 reported in the Government gazette.

Government spokeswoman Jill Bottrall said the approximate $80,000 difference could be attributed to "on-costs" such as employer superannuation fund contributions, but was unable to provide a breakdown.

"It would account for all costs associated with his employment including salary, the cost of the non-monetary benefits and superannuation and other on-costs," she said.

"This is a standard public sector accounting requirement."

Ms Bottrall said superannuation benefits were not considered a "monetary benefit".

      "Nick doesn't receive superannuation payments.

"He pays into the fund, and the department makes a contribution.

"That's how superannuation works," she said.

Opposition finance spokesman Rob Lucas said the Government's failure to include the extra benefits appeared to be a breach of the Public Sector Act.

"The bottom line is they are required to reveal the detailed remuneration in the Gazette (and) the Act clearly defines remuneration as salary, allowances and other monetary benefits," he said.

"It is quite clear that remuneration includes monetary benefits and monetary benefits includes superannuation."

Mr Lucas said the Liberal Party had been told Mr Alexandrides received superannuation payments of $45,000 a year - a figure that was unable to be confirmed by the Government yesterday.

"This (the amount) is information that we just don't keep or have access to in this office," Ms Bottrall said.

The $45,000 would equate to about 26 per cent - 17 per cent higher than public servants' superannuation rate.

Mr Lucas said he had also been informed that Ms Jill Bottrall, who is one of Mike Rann's key media advisers, had received a total remuneration package of up to $25,000 higher than the gazetted figure of $155,733.

Asked to confirm the figure yesterday, Ms Bottrall did not respond.

Mr Lucas said failing to include superannuation benefits in the gazetted amount meant other employees could be receiving generous super contributions without the public knowing.

What does one expect of a premier accusing Macedonians of "stealing " and "theft" by desperately trying to hang onto their identity from funds he is paid by Greeks to spread lies and propoganda against Macedonians in South Australia.
Who is the liar now Mike Rann, oh, of course, Alexandrides, the Greek, is getting some extra funds from taxpayers here for some holidays with you in Greek occupied MACEDONIA.
          Scum.
the openness and transparency of the governments in Australia is something that is and must be accountable to the taxpayers here. An enquiry and audit investigation should be undertaken. Immediately.

And Australian Macedonians were too stupid to not take it to the media and derail his Election campaign for good

Of course he should have received death threats. If he had insulted the Jewish Lobby that would have happened

Mike Rann's other 'pet' Puglia deal questioned

Mike Rann's other 'pet' Puglia deal questioned

MIKE Rann is under growing pressure to explain connections with an area of Italy to which he has committed millions of taxpayer dollars.
The opposition yesterday stepped up its attack on the South Australian Premier by raising a second "pet project" linked to the Puglia region of Italy after The Australian revealed more than $900,000 had been spent since 2007-08 on a trade fair that no SA companies attended.

According to parliament's Register of Members' Interests, Mr Rann's wife, Sasha Carruozzo, owns property in Puglia, has relatives in Italy and travels as a guest of the Pugliese regional government.

Liberal trade spokesman Martin Hamilton-Smith yesterday called on the Premier to reveal details of the employment terms of Puglia native Nicola Sasanelli, appointed in 2007 as the state's special envoy to Europe in higher education and research.

He said he believed the government was spending at least $260,000 a year to fund the position, with the recently gutted Trade Department paying out $130,000 and the Premier's Department covering the rest.

A spokeswoman for Mr Rann refused to confirm how much Mr Sasanelli was paid.

Premier Mike Rann told it's time for him to go

South Australia Premier Mike Rann has been told to stand down by his party. AdelaideNow

THE leadership of South Australian Premier Mike Rann was in turmoil after he was told to step down or be removed.

The ultimatum was delivered late on Friday by Labor's Right faction members, Treasurer Jack Snelling and powerbroker Peter Malinauskas, who told Mr Rann the party's Left and Right factions had agreed that Education Minister Jay Weatherill would become premier.

Mr Rann was told he must stand down in the winter break, before parliament resumes on September 13.

If he opts not to stand aside and forces a ballot, he would lose if members voted along factional lines.

Senior party sources said Mr Rann had reacted in "an extremely hostile manner" and had told the pair he would not stand down.

"Needless to say, Mike was not impressed," one said.

"He was angry, extremely angry, and made all sorts of threats. It is definitely game on now.

"Either Mike steps down gracefully or he will force the issue to a ballot, which he has little chance of winning now the deal has finally been brokered."

Mr Rann was also angry he had been confronted on the eve of a trip to India. He flew out of Adelaide at 9am yesterday.

A poll last month had Mr Weatherill on a 40 per cent approval rating as leader to Mr Rann's 27 per cent.

A source close to Mr Rann said his resolve "should not be discounted. Don't forget he has survived before".

Another colleague said Mr Rann was angry because he wanted to choose the timing of his departure.

He was expected to step down next year, once he had been premier for 10 years and had exceeded the records of Don Dunstan and John Bannon.

Mr Rann could not be contacted for comment.
