Racism and Chauvinism a very Greek trait

RTG started a topic on here about the invented tradition of Athens commemorating the supposed Marathon run 2500 years ago (which in itself can be one big myth). Besides the fact that the people in Marathon not too long ago spoke Albanian and knew absolutely nothing about the ancient mythistory of Marathon. This is the topic - http://www.macedoniantruth.org/forum...ead.php?t=4623

This is the link RTG posted about this invented tradition - http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.p...ory-2010-10-27

and these are the racist and chauvenist comments the modern "greeks" posted for all of us to see. Please bear in mind that the article is for a Turkish newspaper. The initial response is from 2 Turkish persons who rightfully call this invented traditions bluff and the modern "greeks" with their identity crisis:

Congratulations, you only have to go back 2.5 millennium to find something worth celebrating.

How amusing it is that the Greeks have to go back two and a half milennia to find a victory worth commemorating.

Eren, GokTurk, what matters is that the Greeks can indeed go much more than 2,500 years back and still find the great achievements and victories of their race, but also defeats and crises. Most other nations on earth, including your own, cannot. Moreover, if I remember right, the Greeks only have to go back six years to find something worth celebrating: The return of the Olympic games and the Greek triumph in the European Soccer Cup. Such are the ups and downs of history. If you had one, you'd know.

This article demonstrates that some people in this newspaper understand the significance of that victory for the existence of Western Civilization today and its importance to the World, modern day Turkey inclusive. For once, I can congradulate this newspaper, for it is a bright spot in the right direction.

An event worthy of note - the fact that Turks don't seem to get along with Greeks (and visa versa) doesn't diminish the event. It's common for people to criticize the accomplishments of their neighbors often a sign of insecurity - something to consider.

@Eren and GoTurk. If it wasn't for the ancient Athenians all of Europe would be like Iran today an Islamic Theocracy. Turkey will never join the EU.

@GokTurk The Greeks were building magnificent cities while you were still living in a small tent in asia. Please, you do not want to start a comparison of accomplishment with Greeks, you will lose.

Not just a nationwide head examination but at least 100 years of remedial therapy to go with it!

This is the true state of things in modern "greece" - http://discardedlies.com/entry/?22504

                  Mediterranean mentality

A few days ago I mentioned that a 16-year-old student was raped in a small town in Greece, during the student strikes and school occupations.

The victim is a Bulgarian immigrant to Greece and she's a straight A student, the best student in her whole school. She's a quiet girl without many friends, and she worked as a waitress after school to support her mother and herself. She had a crush on one of the rapists, her schoolmate, and he knew it. He asked her to have sex with him and his three friends. She refused and the four boys made a plan: he called her on her cell phone, apologized for his previous request, and asked her to meet him in the school bathroom where they could be alone. She went to meet him, and his three friends barged in, locked the door, and they took turns holding her down and raping her. Three girls were in the bathrooms too, they saw the incident but not only they did nothing to help, they took photos from the next stall. They erased them before the police could get them.

The girl went home shaken and very upset and told her mother what happened. The mother took her to the hospital and the doctors contacted a social worker who contacted the police and the police arrested four 16-year-old boys.

One of the rapists' mother contacted the news shows to express her outrage that her son was called a rapist when "everyone knows that this girl has sexual relationships with everyone! Even with adults! She's a whore! She goes with everyone because she wants to increase her sex skills! Why are you set on destroying a 16-year-old boy's life by branding him a rapist?!"

                  I wanted to throw up.

Most residents of the small town are outraged - not at the rapists but at the victim. Students from the school were interviewed in groups, their faces blurred on camera, and they said the worst imaginable things about the victim. They said it was voluntary, that she asked to have sex with all four of them and that earlier in the day she had sex with other groups of people in the bathroom. No one has said who those other groups of people were.

People don't believe it was rape and said it was the victim's fault and that she and her mother should leave. Back in 1998 this town's city council had voted that all "foreigners" should be kicked out of town as a means to reduce an increase in crime. The police has let the rapists go free until their case is brought to court and they returned to school today, like nothing has happened. But the victim is not at school; the police told her that it's best to stay away from town for a few days for her own protection. The girls who taped the incident were not even questioned.

People are trying to put responsibility at the school because "this happened at the school!" It's not a school if it's under student occupation, if there are no teachers, no adults, no supervision, no learning. Parents who let their 14-15 year olds to "occupy" the school think they're fostering civil rights and responsible citizenship, but the kids know the truth: they're free to attend a never-ending party with no restrictions and no limitations.

Is this what modern "greece" is? A Terrorist State corrupted from its youth to its elderly? I am even more disgusted by what transpired after this story.

Youths cleared of rape sue pupil for slander

An 18-year-old Bulgarian girl who in 2006 brought charges of rape against four of her fellow pupils at a school in the small town of Amarynthos on Evia is being sued for perjury and slander by her alleged attackers, who were exonerated last month, it emerged yesterday.

The decision by a juvenile court in Halkida at the end of last month to clear four youths charged with the gang rape of the girl in the toilets of their school sparked outrage and protests by local and national women’s organizations. The court ruled that the boys did engage in group sex but that the girl, aged 15 at the time, had consented to it. In her testimony, the girl claimed that each of the youths had taken turns to rape her while the others held her down. The girl moved to an Athens school after the alleged attack to complete her studies.

I guess this is what being in the EU is about. A country slithering with rapists get away with heinous crimes and the innocent are set up for more pain to come. I hope the worst for these little rapists.

Greece horrified by racist gang rape in school

The gang rape of a 16-year-old star pupil in the toilets of her Greek school has sent shock waves through the country.

The basic facts of the case are bad enough: a girl was allegedly raped for an hour by four boys while three girls watched, one of them filming it all on her mobile phone. But what has made headlines here is the reaction to the incident, some of it decidedly racist.

The girl is Bulgarian. Not only have she and her mother had to leave the village where they have lived since 1999 after receiving threats, but the mother says the school is refusing to talk to her, and the girl claims the rape was accompanied by racist insults. The village mayor said that there should be some consideration for the boys "who were upset by all this as well". One of the boys charged is the son of one of the teachers there, while another is the son of a local policeman.

Even the Greek president, Karolos Papoulias, has spoken out on the incident. "Greeks have experienced emigration and racism and we will not impose what we have been through on the immigrants living and working here," he said.In the past 15 years more than one million immigrants, mainly from Eastern Europe, have come to Greece, which has a population of almost 11 million. This is cited as the main reason for racist incidents in schools across Greece.

The four boys have now been charged with rape. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in juvenile centres or in jail.

That's just one word to describe the chaotic state of modern "greece". Here's something else that needs to be further circulated. Especially for British women - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worl...nt-prison.html

'Wild dog' Corfu rapist jailed after attacks on British holidaymakers

A Greek rapist who targeted British holidaymakers in Corfu was re-jailed today and charged with further attacks.
Dimitris Aspiotis appeared in a magistrates court on the holiday island where two women judges ordered he be returned to a mainland prison.
The man dubbed the 'wild dog' who lived rough near the party town of Kavos was also accused of additional rapes of women over the past decade, using the threat of knifing his victims.
After the hearing, the 38-year-old said he ‘repented’ for the rapes and asked for ‘forgiveness for the harm I have done to the British women and their families’

Corfu island magistrate Maria Kelesidou and prosecutor Maria Dairousi jointly ordered 38-year old Greek Dimitris Aspiotis sent to Tripolis prison in the Peloponnese, southern Greece.
They also charged him with violating the terms of his release while on a suspended sentence for rape and robbery of British women since 1997, when he was only 25- years-old.

He was additionally charged with the illegal possession and use of a weapon - a knife - and of inflicting bodily injuries on some of his victims.
The imprisonment decision and additional charges were taken after police brought new evidence against Aspiotis.
They were added to last week’s charges of raping four British holidaymakers near Kavos resort between July 12th and August 19th this summer.
According to the evidence presented in the Corfu magistrate’s court, Aspiotis had been sentenced to six years imprisonment on charges of raping three British women between 1997 and 2005.

That brings the total of formally reported and documented rapes of British holidaymakers since 1997 to seven.

He is believed to have been responsible for many more cases, but which the British women never reported for fear of legal complications and social embarrassment.
Aspiotis was released earlier this year after serving three of the six years. The remaining three were suspended on promises of good conduct, after bail was paid by Corfu Evangelists.

This was reportedly done on humanitarian grounds because of Aspiotis’ poverty and unemployed status.
Police evidence showed that, instead of conforming, Aspiotis returned to his past habits with a vengeance.

After trying in vain to get a job but failing because of his police and prison record, he took to the densely wooded forest of Arkoudila outside Kavos resort where he would ambush his British victims as they headed for isolated beaches.

He gave himself up on the night of August 25 after a six-day hunt with dog patrols by police commandos, who ringed off the forest and cut off his food supplies.

The operation was witnessed by the British Consul to Greece, Alison Becket, who flew in because of the growing panic among British tourists on Corfu island.
Corfu police Brigadier Yotis Theocharis, who headed the operation said that no general warning was put out to British tourists so as not to provoke a wider panic.
He said the delay in catching Aspiotis was due to the density of the forest and his numerous hideouts.
The 38-year old Greek was handcuffed when led to the magistrate’s hearing today. He still wore dirty clothes and had a thick beard, which he grew during the six weeks that he lived in the forest.

He had testified last week that he resorted to the rape and robbery of his victims because he was a social outcast, and this was the only way he could get sex and the basic means of financial survival.
His lawyer Florent Kavadas, who was appointed to the court because of his own inability to pay for legal counsel, said that he would seek psychiatric help for his client.
According to Foreign Office statistics, Greece has the highest number of British rape victims in the world.

This is believed to be due to the excessive drinking of young holiday makers and the fact that the country still has vast stretches of isolated beaches.

One of the comments made on this particular story from the link provided above is remarkably indicative of what a toilet bowl state modern "greece" truly is.

I live in greece, and im very suprised this hasnt been covered by the greek media ATALL not one mention of it on any tv channel, its disgusting, and yet they are quick to do reports on rowdy british tourists, what hypocrites also a greek paper called (the thema) has attacked the Daily Mail of distorting the truth!
