    League of Macedonian-Americans (LOMA)

This is a new initiative / organization that I am starting. I hope it can do as the mission states. If any US Macedonians are interested or want to be a part of this, please e-mail me (Victor) at:

    [email protected]

    League of Macedonian Americans (LOMA)
    [email protected]

    MISSION
    1. Encourage and support community development of Macedonians in the United States of America (U.S.).

    2. Promote the Macedonian culture in the U.S.

    3. Protect the ethnic Macedonian identity and name.

    4. Outreach and awareness regarding Macedonian rights, needs and interests worldwide.

    GUIDING PRINCIPLES
    1. LOMA members will never solicit general funds. The only fundraising initiatives will coincide with other Macedonian individuals’ or organizations’ fundraising efforts to support a particular and specific initiative or issue.

    2. All LOMA members will conduct themselves honestly, truthfully, and with integrity. LOMA members will not promote or support hate-based ideologies.

    MEMBERSHIP
    1. All individuals of ethnic Macedonian background who were born or live in the U.S. can become members.

    2. There is no fee for membership. But all members must confirm that they agree to uphold LOMA’s Mission and abide by LOMA’s Guiding Principles.

    OPERATIONS
    1. Except for the first Board members, who will serve an initial term of 4 years, three (3) Board members will be elected every four (4) years by LOMA members. The three (3) individuals with the most votes will serve on the Board. The election process will be determined by the Board prior to elections.

    2. A member must get approval from one (1) Board member before using the LOMA name in advancement of LOMA’s mission. LOMA Board members cannot approve or support an initiative that does not fall under one of the four categories described in its Mission.

    3. The Board may revoke a member’s membership if the individual violates LOMA’s Guiding Principles or works in opposition to LOMA’s mission.

Great initiative. Good to see some positive developments during what has been a very negative time for Macedonia and Macedonians. Good luck!

Thank you both. There may not be a lot we can do from here regarding the situation in Macedonia. But we can do a lot where we're at for our communities here.

I'll keep this thread updated with our weekly newsletter.

If I may add some input.

First, you should not use Yahoo for an email address. Use an email address from the leagueofmacedonians server.

                It looks more professional.

Second, if this is an organization, you should use an .org tld, not .com, since it is not a commercial website.

Third, is this an actual registered business or non-profit organization?

Hi Constellation, thanks for your comments.

We're are an all-volunteer organization. The website server I picked at the time forces me to pay per e-mail account. If there is another (free) way without having to redo the site, I'm open to possibilities. One of our board members actually brought up that yahoo looks unprofessional. True, it's not as professional as it could be. But we're semi-professional.

This is not a business nor a non-profit in any of the legal senses. We won't ever solicit funds, for any purpose, other than helping another organization/person raise money for a particular issue. Even then, no money will ever go straight to us. So, we're not a business and we're more of a non-profit than most non-profits. But we opted not to register as anything.

It's just a group of Macedonians working toward the Macedonian Cause. I hope those details don't matter to people. Then again, I'm generally more removed and less attached to the seriousness of the online world than most people, so I could be wrong. There are .coms that are organizations and .orgs that aren't organizations. I figured that .com is still the most common. But I doubt it matters all that much.

                  Thanks!

On Delchev's sarcophagus you can read the following inscription: "We swear the future generations to bury these sacred bones in the capital of Independent Macedonia. August 1923 Illinden"
