    Thread of interest - Macedonians in the Ottoman census 1904

    We know of the other censuses, the religious ones.
    Macedonians are either presented as Bulgarians, Serbs or Greeks.

    However, i just saw an article where a former Turkish general ordered to his subordinates to take a look in the Ottoman documents. The evidence is as follows:

    Census of Kosovo and Macedonia 1904:

    Turks and Islamized Albanians (Arnauts) - 1 508 000
    Macedonians (Makedons) - 896 000
    Greeks (Yunans) - 307 000
    Serbs (Srps) - 100 000
    Vlachs (Rumeni) - 99 000

    He is the author of the book "Macedonia is not Greece" published in 1993.

    Can we obtain more information about this? Most likely those documents are in Arabic, but having the Macedonians as 'Makedons' in the census, will give a serious blow to the Bulgar propaganda.

    Here is a link to the article, written in Macedonian:

        I wonder if onur can put in an input of where there are facts & figures in the turkish archives??

          We already discussed this here, for the book written by Turkish general;

          Btw since he is a general, he uses the private archive of Turkish military. We have 2 different archives in Turkey. A state archive and a special one for only military affairs. Ofc military one includes censuses because they needed this information for soldier recruitment.

            I know of two tragic histories in the world- that of Ireland, and that of Macedonia. Both of them have been deprived and tormented.
