Treaty of Bucharest - 2013

A Macedonian patriot the other day was talking to me about history and how grease brutally occupied Macedonia by force in 1913 because of the Treaty of Bucharest.

He said that there are secret documents which grease has that show that the treaty will expire in 2013 (100 years) and that Macedonia will retake Solun and also the whole of neoTurk occupied Macedonia along with the 3,000,000 people living there.

What do you guys think about this? I would love to raise the Macedonian flag in Solun and get rid of the newTurk signs in Macedonia.

If Macedonia was China and Greece was the UK then such an agreement would be possible to enforce if the expiry date does exist. The problem is that Macedonia is not China.

Mind you, what would you do with 2.5 million prosfygi that think they're 4000 years Greek?

The less ideological and more practical solution is to simply ensure that Macedonians in Greece have their human rights, and that the Macedonian language and culture is allowed to perpetuate and flourish without oppression.

Unfortunately Bushav, we can also blame the people of Lerin, Kostur, Voden...simply because when they had the chance to show to the rest of the world that they are an oppressed minority, they did not stand up for who they are and what they are....instead they hide in fear of losing what they have...Yes i'd understand that if one person would be scared of attempting to trying to achieve this feat...Why do you think they laugh at Vaskopoulos and Parisis everytime they go on TV....because the Greeks know they've closed the coffin and its only a matter of time becuase they drive the nails into it also.....yes they allow us to have their Panagir in Ovcarani, they allow them to dance and sing to our dances wherever it may be....but they've achieved what they've achieved....I was there in Ovcarani last year, yes dancing and singing and celebrating Ilinden was fantastic, but ask a child a question in Macedonian and they responded in Greek.....the damage is irreversible.

drle, do not despair. 20 years ago the absolute majority of people in what is today the Republic of Macedonia, preferred to be living in Yugoslavia.

Look at how much has changed in such a short period.

Don't misunderstand our people in Aegean Macedonia. They are generally not political, there are many examples of non-politicised minorities, but you should know that they very much do value their culture, music, traditions and language, despite all the obstacles. It will never be rooted out of them and that bridge, or foundation, for our unity, will always remain.
