Foreign Ministry - Greece resorts to provocations and public disinforming
Skopje /20/10/ 14:35
Greece pushes ahead with provocations aimed at manipulating and disinforming the domestic public in order to persuade them in "the triumph" of the Greek diplomacy, Macedonian Foreign Ministry said in a written statement released today.
The statement refers to the frequent articles in the Greek media, claiming that an increasing number of countries are annulling their decisions for recognition of the constitutional name of Macedonia, to start calling it FYORM.
"Athens cannot accept the fact that as many as 125 countries around the world are using our constitutional name," the announcement says.
It further adds that the Greek authorities are trying to paint a picture of alleged reversal of the stance on the international use of the name Republic of Macedonia.
The Greek media recently distributed news claiming that Panama and Mexico shifted their positions relating the constitutional name of the Republic of Macedonia and that they announced start naming the country as FYROM.
Shortly after, the ministries of foreign affairs of the both countries sent notifications to the Macedonian foreign ministry, stating clearly that they never changed their decisions to name the country under its constitutional name.
Today, the Greek media reported that DR Congo also shifted its stance regarding the name. The Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is convinced that yet another speculation is in question.
